Chapter 100
by
Vain
Should he ask her himself? Get more information out of Heather? What else is going on here anyway...?
No answers now, as they instead play another game of poker
All the others were already gathered in the living room when Zack arrived there, and it seemed like a bad idea to try and ask some questions while they were trying to figure what to do until lunch. It seemed like all the seats were taken as well - at least as he didn't want to hustle with anyone like they'd been doing yesterday -, and instead he remained standing in wait for them to come to a decision. Or for one of the right ones to leave, so he could grab them for a chat in private.
"I really enjoyed that game of cards yesterday!" Ashley was just saying, with the deck already sitting on the table just in front of her, and pointed out how whiskey and poker went perfectly well together. "We could even play with penalties this time...! Like, the loser each round has to sweep one down?"
"Uh, no...We don't!" Surprisingly it was her own boyfriend who was first to object, although it was fairly obvious he was speaking more for some of the others than himself on the matter - such as Gavin and Victoria, who were both pretty light on the drinking, and also had trouble saying no to the rest of the group. "This stuff is not for sweeping, ever!"
"Oh, well..." Ashley rolled her eyes at him, but didn't try to insist at least. Then she was distracted by a message on her phone - which was also positioned on the table before her -, and she stopped coming up with other suggestions while leaning back to read it with a puzzled look on her pretty face.
"Let's just start like we did yesterday then?" Heather was quick to snatch the deck from her occupied friend, and started shuffling it while waiting for an answer. For some reason the two of them were sharing a couch today, with Brandon sitting on his girlfriend's left together with Vicky, while Gavin and Chloe were again sharing the couch straight across from them.
"Yeah, sure!" Chloe agreed with a shrug of her slender shoulders, and was backed up by most of the others. Even Zack was fairly quick to chime in - even as he didn't have a seat yet -, and found himself immediately waved over to Heather's side.
"We'll have to spread out evenly!" The busty cheerleader captain - and self-appointed ringleader -, told him as she practically **** him to squeeze himself in between herself and Ashley. There was obviously something going on though, considering the mischievous grin she flashed him, but there was little he could use as an argument against her. It wasn't like he'd be able to pull out of the game already, and in some ways he was actually rather happy not to be sitting quite this close to either Chloe or Vicky today...
"Hey, Ash? Are you done yet?" Heather asked the blonde across Zack's shoulders, and it was difficult for him to keep from noticing how she 'accidentally' pressed her firm bosom up against his arm while she leaned herself into him. Thus she proved what kind of game she'd be playing on him, and he found that he wasn't really surprised about it at all. The real question was how to counter it, without losing his face in the process.
"Uh, yeah... sure..." The blonde on his other side replied, though she was obviously still distracted by yet another message on her phone, and she picked up her cards without really looking at them while she started typing back to whoever it was in the other end...
Some half an hour later they were all having a lot of fun again, as they were chatting and playing cards just like yesterday, and it seemed like the whiskey was helping out quite a lot with making them relax and momentarily forget about their troubles from the eventful night. In fact, it wasn't all that long before a few were getting more than just a little bit tipsy, though it was still only affecting the mood rather positively overall.
The most obvious one having trouble with keeping the **** from getting to her head was Victoria, and only twenty minutes into the game the others had to start pulling the brakes on her from drinking too much more. Still she wasn't quite so intoxicated as to fall asleep like she usually did however, and they had to keep refilling her glass every now and then to make sure that she stayed in that balance between 'fully content' and 'about to pass out', without getting close to 'freaking mad for not being served her drinks'...
Gavin was doing a whole lot better though - as he'd only taken small sips of his whiskey -, and he found that if he could keep himself at a steady level, he just might be able and gather enough courage to ask Heather a few questions a little later during the day.
Chloe at the other hand was drinking quite copiously from her glass - much like the tipsy blonde across from her -, though her reasons were similar to Gavin's idea about building enough courage to actually manage some talking to either him or Zack. There was quite a few things she needed to get straight with both of them, and she was seriously annoyed by the way they seemed to ignore her - even if Zack had at least started looking her way every now and then again...
What's happening next then...?
