What's next?
No Luck with Maya
Maya looks across the room for a long moment.
Then she looks back at Miles.
Maya: no.
Miles: you haven't even seen him yet.
Maya: I don't need to.
She takes a slow sip of her drink, her eyes steady on his.
Miles: Maya.
Maya: you heard me.
She sets her drink down on the counter and steps closer, her voice dropping.
Maya: you want me to go spend my night with someone else.
Miles: I'm saying—
Maya: I know what you're saying.
She holds his gaze for a moment, something direct and unhesitating in her expression.
Maya: the answer is no.
She picks her drink back up and leans against the counter, completely unbothered, looking out at the party with the easy composure of someone who has said everything they needed to say.
Miles looks at her for a moment.
He is not going to win this one.
He nods once and moves back into the party.
One less option. He needs to find Aria or Janice.
