Chapter 17 by fenharel fenharel

Do they leave on time?

No. Somebody decides to stay.

"Come on Citrinas, we need to leave." Elmeria says as the arch-imago shakes her head, almost crying.

"No! I'm right! He had too many healing potions!" She says defiantly, still hung up on the issue from the previous day.

"Yes, yes, I believe you, but we need to leave." She says halfheartedly. Even someone with poor social skills like Citrinas could tell she was just playing along. True, Elmeria knew Citrinas wasn't lying, but she also was uninterested in finding out the truth behind Rohan's potion use.

"No you don't!" She exclaims like a child, causing every eye in the camp to focus on her. Rather than being eyes of scorn or hate, they were eyes full of fear. Out of the heroines, she was the only one to realize something was amiss. Rohan himself looked perturbed, not knowing how to handle someone that lacked dignity or decorum.

"Why is this such an issue?" Alkadabuki asked.

"Because you two don't believe me!" Citrinas shouts angrily. "I'll prove it! I'll find them!" She says as Alkadabuki picks her up by the chest.

"Yes, yes Citrinas. But we can do it later. For now, we have work to do." She says calmly, like a mother going along with a toddler's screaming. Citrinas suddenly goes silent at the remark, mumbling to herself while the Amazon Queen continues to carry her. As they walk to Rohan, Citrinas suddenly disappears without a trace, causing Elmerai and Alkadabuki to simultaneously mutter curses at her spell.

"What just happened?" Rohan asked, watching the mage disappear before his eyes.

"She entered her domain." Alkadabuki answers, her hands now holding hollow air as you begin panicking again. Domain was an Angel Blessing that allowed you to enter a pocket dimension and avoid pursuers. Now that she was in there, they couldn't drag her out or talk to her. Also, how many angel blessings did these heroines get!?

"Will... Will she be returning soon?" Rohan asked nervously. "Pardon my rudeness, but I do not feel we have the time to mull about here." He says while Elmeria rubs her temples to calm her headache.

"We don't. Once again, I'd like to apologize for my comrade. It seems she wants to stay here and look for... I apologize for this whole affair." She apologizes once again.

"We'll leave her. She can catch up later when she calms down." Alkadabuki says as Rohan's face grows stern.

"Is that truly wise to leave the arch imago alone?" He asked as you mutter a silent apology to the man. He had done everything in his power to fulfill his promise to you, went above and beyond what you expected, and it still wasn't enough. At this point, you feel bad for dragging him into your foul luck.

"She does this very often. Do not worry." Alkadabuki reassures as Rohan thinks for a moment, the gears in his head deep in motion before he spoke up.

"Please, permit me to leave some soldiers behind in case she is harmed. I would not wish harm to befall my savior." He offers, still using a lie by omission to get through Elmeria's lie detection skill. Though Alkadabuki looked like she wants to deny the offer and logically point out that his entire army was outclassed by Citrinas alone, she merely smiled and nodded at the gesture.

"You are truly a man of dignity and honor." She says, assuming that Rohan was pushing personal emotion aside to defend someone he rightfully disliked. With a snap of his fingers, he summoned Asriana and her three subordinates to his side.

"Asriana, I leave you and your team in charge of the Arch-imago. Please, ensure no conflict is to occur." He orders as the elf bows at the waist to him. Behind her, her trio of subordinates kneel while placing their arms over their chests.

"I shall not fail you." She says as Rohan leaves, the pair of heroines staying by his side as they began hunting for the Carnation Seneschal. Though removing two out of three major threats was good, you can't help but feel worried having what is essentially a nuclear warhead in your backyard. The fact that the trigger for those nukes were being held by an emotionally stunted woman with autistic tendencies, you don't like your odds of surviving.

"Lord of the Jungle, you have our deepest apologies for this." Asriana says as you grow a mouth tendril in your patch of grass.

"Please, try to keep her from engaging in conflict with me." You say as she nods.

"We shall do our best." Asriana offers as you think of a plan to get the heroine off your back. A bout of inspiration hits you as you speak to Asriana, laying your plan out to her before Citrinas returns.

What's the plan?
