Chapter 19 by globalman1235 globalman1235

Did anything else happen on the way to Pewter City?

No, they finally made their way to the Gym.

### AUTHOR'S NOTE ###

This chapter is a modified version of a chapter I wrote in the original story.

### AUTHOR'S NOTE: END ###

Ash and Dawn had finally made their way out of Viridian Forest and arrived in Pewter City. After a short stay at the Pokémon-Center, where Nurse Joy returned their Pokémon to full health, the twins were on their way to the Pewter City Gym. As they got closer to the Gym, Dawn got increasingly excited for her upcoming battle.

"Finally, my first Kanto Gym Battle!" she said excitedly.

"You've got this, Ashley!" Ash motivated her sister.

"Thanks for the support, Sis," Dawn smiled at Ash as they went inside.

Entering the Gym, Ash and Dawn immediately noticed the battlefield at the center of the large room. Unlike the one at the Viridian City Pokémon-Center, this field was very rocky with large boulders spread all over it. Across the battlefield, they saw somebody sitting atop a small stone pedestal. He had spiky brown hair and wore an orange t-shirt under a green vest as well as brown trousers and gray shoes. Seeing the two girls enter his Gym, he stood up and introduced himself.

"Welcome to the Pewter City Gym," he began. "My name is Brock and I am the local Gym Leader."

"I am Ashley, and this is my twin sister Dawn," Dawn introduced herself as well. "I am here to challenge you to a battle."

"Alright, I accept your challenge," Brock said. "Is this your first Gym Battle?"

"Here in Kanto, yes," Dawn replied.

"In that case, we will both be fighting with two Pokémon each," he told her. "Are you ready?"

"Yes," she nodded as she headed to her position at the other end of the battlefield, Brock already standing in his spot. While the two got ready for their battle, Ash headed to the stands at the side of the field and took a seat over there. With everybody now on their positions, the two opponents started their battle. "Let's go!"

"Geodude, it's your turn!" Brock called out as he sent out his first Pokémon.

"Geodude!" it said as is came out of its Pokéball.

"Let's do this, Misty!" Dawn shouted as she sent out her own Pokémon.

"Misty Mis!" she said, ready for battle.

"I see, you brought a water-type Pokémon," Brock noted. "A good choice against my rock-types. But it takes more than just type advantage to win a battle. Geodude, use Tackle!"

"Geo!" the rock-type charged at Misty.

"Quick Misty, jump!" Dawn instructed her Pokémon.

"Mis!" Unlike her battle against Piplup, Misty did not only have an advantage in height, but also in speed, allowing her to easily jump over the attack at the perfect moment.

"Good, now follow up with Water Gun!" Dawn called out.

Still in the air, Misty spun around and fired a Water Gun from her mouth at her opponent. "Ty!"

Unable to dodge it, Geodude was hit by the super effective attack, crying out at the hit. "Geodude!"

"No, Geodude!" Brock yelled as his Pokémon found itself in a tight spot.

"And now finish it with Double Slap!" Dawn shouted as her Misty steadily landed on her feet, already facing the rock-type Pokémon again.

"Misty!" Misty's hands began to glow as she charged at her opponent. Landing the two hits of her attack, she sent Brock's Geodude flying into the nearest boulder. A dazed look on it's face, it was unable to battle.

"Well done, Misty!" Dawn praised her Pokémon as there now was only one Pokémon left to beat.

"Keep it up, Misty!" Ash cheered from the stands. "You can do this!"

"Okay Geodude, return," Brock said as Geodude was pulled back into its Pokéball. "Your Misty is a really good fighter."

"Thank you," Dawn said as she gave a confident smile. "We trained together with my sister and her Pokémon in preparation for this battle."

"I can see that, but you still haven't won. There's one more Pokémon you have to defeat," Brock said as he reached for his second Pokéball. "Go, Onix!"

"Onix!" the huge Pokémon towered over the field as it was sent out.

"Now, start with Tackle!" he instructed his Pokémon.

"Misty, jump!" Dawn yelled as Brock's Onix charged at her Misty.

Dawn's Misty was barely able to avoid the attack, the enormous size of her opponent evening out the advantage her speed gave her. But unlike before, her opponent was prepared for her evasiveness.

"Not this time! Onix, use Wrap!" Brock had predicted what his opponent would attempt and knew how to react. The airborne Misty was an easy target as Onix grabbed her with its tail, trapping her in a tight grip.

"Miiiiis!" the trapped Pokémon cried out.

"Misty, no!" Dawn yelled as Onix tightened its grip on her Pokémon.

"Doing the same thing twice makes your opponent able to react to it," Brock lectured his challenger. "Now your Misty is unable to move."

Dawn had to think fast. If she didn't come up with a strategy quickly, her Misty would lose the battle. Suddenly, she had an idea.

"Misty, use Rain Dance!" she called out to her Pokémon.

"Misty Ty!" Misty yelled. Her arms not constrained by Onix's grip, she formed a light blue sphere between her hands and launched it at the ceiling. As clouds began to form under the gym's roof, it started to rain onto the battlefield, irritating Onix just enough for it to loosen its grip on Misty for a short moment. Using her chance, Misty freed herself and positioned herself in front of her opponent.

"A clever idea," said Brock as he looked at the clouds. "But it won't be enough. Onix, use Tackle!"

"Dodge!" Dawn shouted as the large Pokémon came charging at Misty, who was once again able to dodge the attack. This time, however, she was moving much quicker than before and was able to avoid ending up in another Wrap from Onix.

"Now use Water Gun!" Dawn followed up as she saw that her Pokémon was free to attack.

"Ty!" Misty fired a stream of water from her mouth, this one being more powerful than the one that had hit Geodude.

"Onix, no!" Brock shouted as his Pokémon was hit by the attack. Realizing what was happening, he turned to Dawn. "I see your Misty has the ability Swift Swim. So not only do her water-type moves increase in strength in the rain, but her speed also increases."

"She is the Swimmer Pokémon after all, so it's only fitting," Dawn answered. "And now, we're going to finish this battle!"

"Misty!" her Misty agreed, ready to take down her opponent.

"We'll see about that," Brock answered. "Onix, get her with Wrap!"

As Onix charged at Misty, she once again dodged the attack, circling it and getting behind it at incredible speed.

"Well done Misty!" Dawn yelled. "Now finish it off with Water Gun!"

"Ty!" Misty shouted as she fired one final stream of water at her opponent. As it got hit by the stream, Onix began to tumble and finally collapsed on the battlefield, unable to battle.

"We did it Misty, we won!" Dawn cheered as she ran to her Pokémon and hugged it tightly, their breasts pressing against one another while Dawn caressed her Pokémon's hair.

"Mis, Misty Mis!" Misty joined her trainer's cheers, proud of how she had done.

"Ashley, Misty, congratulations!" Ash called out to the two victors, running over to them from the stands.

After recalling his Onix into its Pokéball, Brock made his way over to the celebrating trainers. Reaching out his hand, he presented the reward for beating the Pewter City Gym Leader.

"That was a great battle, you two have truly earned the Boulder Badge." he said as he handed the Badge to Dawn. "You and your Misty are a great team and I hope that you will continue to work together like this on the rest of your journey."

"Thank you, Brock!" Dawn happily said as she accepted the Badge.

"Now that you have the Boulder Badge, you should probably head towards Cerulean City," Brock suggested. "I think challenging their Gym next would be a good idea, since it's the closest one that is currently opened."

"Alright then, now we know our next destination, right Misty?" she asked her Misty.

"Misty!" she nodded in approval before being returned to her Pokéball to rest.

"Good luck on your journey, Ashley," Brock said with a smile, then turned towards Ash. "And good luck to you too, Dawn. Be sure to keep supporting your sister!"

"Thank you, and I will!" Ash smiled.

With that, Ash and Dawn left the Pewter City Gym. Having won her first gym badge, Dawn was looking forward to challenging the other Gyms of the region on her path to the Indigo League. Their next destination set as Cerulean City, their journey continued.

What happened next?
