No, it is abandoned.

It has been years since the last truck took candy out from the factory. At the time, there was no public statement from the candy maker about the stoppage of candy. Some wonder if they died within the walls of the factory and it has slowly stopped production. Others say the candy maker is going through a rebranding and will return hopefully soon. Some hypotheses that the candy maker is now bankrupt and uses the factory just as a large home instead of a business.

The mayor attempted to enter the factory and find out what happened. He was surprised when he clicked the intercom button, that the front gate actually opened to him. He made the long trek to the front door and found it opened autonomously for him, inviting him in. A few townsfolk saw him enter and waited long for his return. After hours, the mayor made his return. He held a town hall meeting to let people know that he is unsure what to do about the factory. But the mayor was acting very suspicious and was very **** to reveal what he saw inside.

“Is that candy maker still alive?”

“I don’t know.”

“Is the factory still making candy?”

“I don’t know.”

“What are we going to do with the factory?”

“...I don’t know.”

The mayor was bombarded with questions, but could not provide answers or maybe, chose not to provide answers. He ultimately decided to continue letting power go to the factory while he decided on what to do. The townspeople were left unsatisfied with the mayor’s presentation at town hall.

The structure continued to stand tall, smoke no longer coming from its smoke stacks, only a few lights around the perimeter that appear to still get power. The security system was still active however as it did activate a few times when teenagers in the town tried to sneak in. Alarms and lights triggered which scared them back over the fence. Eventually, the people got used to having this giant silent monument overshadow the town. Many assumed that they would never get to see the inside of the factory besides the candy maker themselves, until one fateful day when a unique set of circumstances came to fruition. One individual would find themselves in a special situation when the inside of the factory would reveal itself to them.
