Chapter 50 by Almax Almax

Are you strong enough to deflect the strike?

No!

Rrgh! The strike lands on your shield with enough **** that you can't hold it back long enough in order to try something -- instead, you almost do an involuntary backflip as you're knocked over backwards to land on your bum. Oof... it's a good thing you've got a lot of padding, or else the gravel landing pad might've hurt a bit more.

Before the one-armed fiend can capitalise on it though, Cameron charges into it with the flat side of his shield. The monster is knocked to the ground as well, and it doesn't have your degree of padding so you take some solace in that. It skids a short distance along the gravel path, Cameron still in pursuit after his initial smash, before coming to a stop. Cameron immediately gets on top of it in a mount and start raining down punch after punch on the simulated monster with his bladed shields, as you get yourself up to your feet and dust off your partially-sore behind.

You look over to the monster you killed to get your pride in yourself back up, then turn back to the action and cheer Cameron on as he finishes the monster off with a few more punches. When the simulated monster goes still, he rises to his feet, panting heavily from the exertion but (just like you) totally unharmed.

"Those explosive bullets are really powerful!" He says.

You nod excitedly, smiling at him, then look around the battlefield. You dig your hand into your pocket of loose and jingling impact bullets, using a handful of them to reload your pepperbox pistol to its maximum capacity.

You did a really great job here all things considered, even if the strength of the monster was a bit too much at the end there. But the fighting isn't over yet! On the bridge, Delilah still fights that monster she's been up against since the start. It looks like neither side has yet to land a proper hit yet, since they're both deflecting a bunch of attacks with their sickles and scythes. Any attacks that don't get deflected are either dodged extravagantly by Delilah, or harmlessly scratch against the monster's armoured chitin.

Even though your butt is still a bit sore, and you're already responsible for a fair deal of the work done in the fight, you could help her out if you wanted. It might be worth a try?

She might stop being mean to you if you helped her out here. Maybe. She does look pretty frustrated.
