Chapter 13 by BobWeasel BobWeasel

Let’s hunt

Nightfall

Tracking the group was really easy, almost pitifully so for such a ‘prepared group’. Granted, I don’t think they expected to be tracked from the onset. In either case, you were easily able to keep pace with them as they headed deeper into the forest until they reached a moderate sized clearing with a low cliff running alongside one edge.

“Here is good, get some archers up on the cliff, some in the trees, drive it into the cliff face so when it tries to flee, they’ve got good shots. Alright, get some wood, we’ll need a fire and some stakes.”

And the group spread out to prepare the trap while leaving my three humans in the center. Soon, there was a bonfire and some spits with meat as they prepared an evening meal. During this time, I was concealed in a tree on the edge, watching them. Of them there was

  • Aerlan, the human leader in gold scaled armor with red sashes and a longsword
  • Delia, a Neko with red hair, brown scaled bracers and a halberd
  • Two human brothers, each armed with a long spear and blue scaled armor
  • A dwarf woman with a heavy crossbow and a battle axe
  • An elf woman with blonde hair and a longbow
  • A human woman in a white tunic with a spear, on her chest was a symbol you couldn’t quite make out
  • An orc with what could only be called a small ballista
  • A duo of gnomes with small blades and weird looking crossbows
  • Two human men with light crossbows and spear

The dwarf, elf, and the two humans with crossbows clambered up the cliff face. The duo of gnomes went off to the right into the bushes right below me. The orc and the two brothers went to the opposite side. And finally, Aerlan, Delia, and the human woman stayed around the bonfire.

With them split up, but not yet settled for a watch, I figured if I moved fast, I could take out one, maybe two groups before the others noticed.

Who do I target first?
