Chapter 3 by Jpyric Jpyric

So, whose child are you?

Nicholas, oldest son of Josh and Anna.

Authors note: This character has a canonical name, but since I prefer writing in second person, I’ve made it customizable!

Having gods as parents is hard. Not hard like growing up oppressed, or growing up poor, or any of the normal things that kids struggle with. But people have certain expectations when they hear who your parents are. Especially when your family is not only divine, but also a group of heroes who defeated an ancient evil and united the land in peace. Even though you’re not divine yourself, the bar is set pretty high, especially as one of the few humans in the family.

Not that it doesn’t have its benefits. Bullies who target you quickly learn that having a literal war goddess as an ‘aunt’ means that you’re quite capable of defending yourself. However, sometimes things aren’t physical, and hearing teases about how attractive your family is, with the obvious suggestion that you’re interested in them, tend to get under your skin. While all your ‘aunts’ are undeniably attractive, they’re your dad’s lovers. That’s not ground you have any desire to tread upon. And your sisters…while they don’t necessarily need your protection, you feel obligated to watch out for them. Which of course fuels more rumors.

This doesn’t mean you’re not popular. Quite the opposite, in fact. Your dad likes to joke that you got the best of both worlds between him and your mom. “You got my height, and Anna’s good looks!”

This meant that you had plenty of girls flocking to you, and of course you accepted many of the advances. And while it meant you got plenty of sex as a teen, it was all quite shallow. And now you find yourself, at twenty years old, wondering what’s next. You want to distinguish yourself for yourself, not living in your family’s shadow. But how to do that, when your father is ruler of the known world, and your family is the pantheon that aids him?

You need an adventure, a way to separate yourself from them and stand on your own.

You decide it’s time to ask dad how to get started.
