Newfound Existence

Two days later Maria sat in an old-fashioned armchair in Nikolai's mansion, a warm fire crackling in front of her, with Nikolai by her side observing her. Her mind was deep in thought, as she indulged in her newfound existence as a vampire. She no longer sensed any influence from Nikolai's darkness and vampiric powers. Fully conscious of her own corruption, the feeling thrilled her. She reveled in the power and the liberation from the constraints of morality that came with it. The thought of feeding was now not only necessary for her survival but also aroused her. She could feel the blood pulsating through her veins, the hunger within her growing stronger, and the desire for feeding mingling with her intensified sex drive.

"Why do I feel constant craving? You said I could survive 4 or 5 days without blood. It's been 2 days since Steve and all I want is to feed and fuck," she wondered out loud while observing the fire.

Nikolai smiled at her rookie question, "my dear, I never said you wouldn't feel hunger and lust. Oh no, these feelings will never leave you, ever. Only in brief moments when you take a life will you feel completely satisfied and sated. On the other hand, if you go too long without blood, you will lose control and succumb to your primal instincts. The beast inside you will awaken, and trust me, you don't want that to happen."

"Where are others of our kind? You live alone here and I haven't met any other vampire yet..."

Nikolai leaned in closer to Maria and explained, "So you wanna know why there are so few of our kind? Mostly because the transition from human to vampire is not easy. Most humans do not have enough darkness in them to survive the process. They simply die without waking up. They have to be prepared for it with care. But you, Maria, you had darkness in you before. That's why it was not difficult to corrupt you. You were already on the path to the dark side, so to speak."

"But there are many psychopaths in this world, I wouldn't say it's so difficult to find them."

"Oh you really wouldn't want to turn them. They can't control their darkness even as humans, it would be impossible to do that as a vampire. They would turn into perpetual beasts, dangerous to humans and us."

Maria nodded, taking in his words. "But as I controlled my inner darkness I was kind of meant to become a vampire?"

"Perhaps," Nikolai replied with a sly smile. "Or perhaps I just saw potential in you that others overlooked. Either way, you are here now and there is no going back."

Maria asked, "Are there any dangers that come with being a vampire?"

Nikolai nodded gravely, "There are always dangers, my dear. The biggest threat to our kind comes from the vampire hunters. They've existed for centuries, and their sole purpose is to track and eliminate our kind."

Maria's eyes widened in alarm. "Are there many of them?"

Nikolai shook his head. "No, they're not many, but they're highly skilled and well-organized. They know how to find us so we need to be careful not to draw their attention."

"Is there anything we can do to protect ourselves?"

"We can't do much except to stay vigilant and avoid being detected," Nikolai replied. "There's also the Order, a loose governing body of vampires that tries to maintain the status quo. They work behind the scenes to keep us hidden and to ensure that the vampire hunters don't detect us. But even they can only do so much."

Maria listened intently, taking in every word. She knew now that being a vampire was not just about feeding, fucking and indulging in darkness. It came with a whole set of challenges and dangers that she would have to navigate. But she was not afraid. She was excited to explore this new world and to discover what lay ahead.

"I'm enjoying our talk, but I'm hungry," Maria admitted with a low voice, her eyes fixed on Nikolai.

Nikolai's lips twisted into a crooked grin. "Then let's go feed," he said, standing up from the armchair and extending a hand to her.
