Devarra had left the Captain alive, despite herself he now had a wife devoted to the cause and who carried another of the faithful, she knew his fate was sealed even though her desire to end the pitiful man was great.

She now posed as a young human woman Vara who had started to work in the mayor's household . The mayor Paulus was a late thirty year old man who had obviously never worked and lived to excess, the fifth in his line to rule the town his own importance evident. His loud boistrous voice matched by his expanding waistline, his hands seemed permenantly greasy from food and drool ran down his jowly face.

His new wife was barely nineteen, Sarana was by contrast a waif like woman, pretty but by no means stunning her lot a sorrowful one as her family had arranged the marriage to elevate their station. Devara had learned quickly the marriage was less than a happy one, not that it mattered, she would play her part however horrendous the thought.

Vara had quickly become the mayor's wife confidant, in part to the power of her suggestion and the fact Sarana didnt trust the established staff, the party quickly approached and Sarana wanted Vara at her side.
