Chapter 9 by TheUnfathomable TheUnfathomable

Back to our regularly scheduled protagonist

New in town

(We're back to Moged-Ruun/Mathew now)

I chuckled to myself after leaving the carriage. 'She was quite **** at the end there. I wonder what it was? It most certainly wasn't good will or nerves.' I pondered for a while as I continued to wander into the town. 'Well, it doesn't matter. Whatever her goals are, I shall find them out eventually. First, I must address my current quest.'

It took me a decent amount of time to find a good spot. There was an elevated platform in an area akin to a town center. I mentally recited the speech I planned before moving to the platform. As I moved towards it, I noticed many people looking at me quizzically. They began to whisper amongst themselves as I moved on top of it.

Just before giving my speech, I turned to the sky as if in prayer, in order to milk out a bit more intrigue. I then began my speech. "My fellow citizens of Ruyanei, I come before you to share knowledge of which I have been blessed." The whispers and chatter became more energetic now. "I come forth with news of a great change in our lands. For a new god has been born!" The masses silenced for a moment.

Then one man burst out laughing. "A new god? what kind of looney is this guy?" The others turned their attention to him. "I was wondering why someone would get on the lord's plaque without any advance, but its just some crazy hermit."

A few others joined his thinking, but I was prepared for that. I gazed toward him and activated God's Eye.

Mason Ballen

Title: Henchman of Kyle Normn

Race: Human

Class: lvl 6 Thug (I)

Opinion of User: Skeptical, Cautious

I let out a quite loud inner laugh before addressing Mason. "Young Mason, I can assure you I speak not of lunacy."

The man stopped laughing at once. "Wait, how did-"

I smirked as I answered his question before he finished asking it. "My god, with him, I may know whatever I need." Mason's face shifted to one of slight horror before he **** his way through the crowds. The people had become far more energetic in their talking now. "My fellow people, I understand your doubts. This event is unprecedented, no history of such things have ever occurred. But on my travels in the woods, I noticed impossible things. I saw the plants grow before my very eyes. A shrub turned to a full grown pine! And when a wolf nearly had my throat, it coughed and choked to **** upon its own blood, before my new lord approached me." The people had a discussion amongst them, seemingly still doubtful. "I understand your doubts. Please, give me a chance to prove to you the powers my god has gifted me."

There was a murmuring for a while. I began to grow impatient before one man stepped forward. "Your god, your speeches of his powers all relate to growth." Though I couldn't see him well through the crowd, I was able to activate God's Eye on him as well.

Oliver Trust

Title: Tragedy of Potential

Race: Human (Potential deviant bloodline)

Class: lvl 5 Knight (II)

Opinion of User: Hope, Skeptical, Suspicious

"A great eye, Sir Oliver." He grimaced as I spoke, and the crowds around began to have varying discussions.

"Then, does you god have the ability to heal?" He stated in a steadfast tone, as he worked his way through the crowd towards me.

I considered for a moment. "Healing is one of my gods greatest skills. It is well within his domain to recover wounds, however curing diseases and such is not as much under his influence."

"Well then," He spoke up as he reached me, "Can he fix this?" As he spoke. he lifted his left arm, which was cut to a stub a little more than halfway between the shoulder and elbow. He watched me carefully, with an almost glare as he awaited my answer.

I stared at his arm for a few seconds as I thought it over in my head. "My lord's powers are as of yet unrefined. Major acts of healing such as this-"

"I knew it." He said as he put his arm down and began to turn around. "Nothing but another phony who can't do it, just like the rest of them."

"That's not what I said." He immediately stopped. "I was not saying it cannot be done." He turned back to face me, a mixture of hope and disbelief in his eyes. "What I was saying, is that since your body is not truly prepared, it will hurt."

"However much it may hurt is worth it."

"Are you sure? It will most certainly be far more painful than when you lost it." He contemplated for but a moment before a strong look of determination covered his face.

"I will not yield to pain."

I gave a large grin, "Then shall we begin?"

How does it go?
