What's next?

Naseef Empire

Ruler: Yusen Naseef

Heirs: Kal Naseef (1st – Male), Malic Naseef (2nd - Male), Yasmi Naseef (3rd – Female), Vaseema Naseef (4th – Female), Maras (Married to Wri family), Nasir (Assassinated), Telun (Assassinated)

The Naseef Empire has existed for over 500 years on the planet Shalusa. It is known for its wealth due to its resource-heavy home planet and nearby Aurum planets, leading some to dub the Naseef Empire as the 'Golden Empire'. It's a direct monarchy, ruled by 7th Generation ruler Yusen Naseef.

Throughout the years, the Naseef Empire has had many critics, most of which are silenced by either media or assassinations. Many rebellions have attempted to dethrone the empire, but the royals have, for the most part, managed to endure. This was further challenged by the invasion of the Dalarus Empire ninety years ago. The Corrian's superior space technology and use of orbital bombardment wrought much devastation until the war was ended abruptly by civil war on Corr.

Recently, rebellion has broken out again, albeit this time much more successful for the rebels. The civil war between the Naseef Empire and Liberation Front officially started just over a year ago, when members of parliament and two divisions of the Naseef Empire's military committed an orbital bombing strike on Prince Naseef's newly built mansion, killing his entire family and most of his bodyguards.

So far the war has been fairly even, with many defectors joining the Front. Emperor Nasir Naseef decided to reach out to the Wri Empire by marrying off his only daughter, Maras to Corr's king. Whilst his fleet has been of great assistance, this has given the Front even more defectors to help fight Naseef.

Right now the rebel leadership occupies an unknown mothership as their base of operations. It is from there it is believed they co-ordinate many attacks. In spite of this, the Liberation Front have been able to capture many Aurum planets from the Naseef empire, holding them hostage and smuggling resources to rival empires.

On the Naseef's home planet of Shalusa, a ground conflict is ongoing and is in somewhat of a stalemate. Whilst the Naseef Empire is used to combating insurgencies, this one is proving stronger than any other they have faced before. Many believe that they may have to compromise with the rebellion if they want to remain in power.

Whilst the Naseef and Wri Empires are working together, this has been a source of conflict. Wri has been unwilling to share some of its technological advantages in fear of future conflict, whilst the Naseef have at times accused the Wri empire of being too unwilling to fully commit to the conflict. Many important figures of the Wri society have also been critical of the war, stating that they should not be getting involved, and some even stating that they should be fighting on the rebel's side, making comparisons of the civil war that occurred 90 years ago.

Whilst most citizens of the empire tend to live humble lives, those with wealth are rarely afraid to flaunt it. The majority of Shalusians work in the mining industry one way or the other. Those who mine on Aurum planets are considered members of the Naseef Empire's army and they all receive basic infantry training.

The empire has been content to trade with other empires, but has engaged in conflicts with empires of Aurum planets they believed were rightfully theirs. These conflicts are often called off due to rebellions, but when the Naseef Empire has been able to fully commit, they have proven themselves to be a formidable and tenacious fighting ****.

Fashion:

Most people of Shalusa wear robes that protect from the hot sun and keep them cool. Those of more wealthy lifestyles tend to wear beige or white-colored robes and are expected to keep them clean at all times. In fact, in the past one could be executed if they were to purposely stain a royal's robes, and the phrase 'Dyeing one's robes' is often used as an idiom for someone making a fool of themselves.

Since ancient times, it has been considered fashionable to remove any and all pubic hair. This is often done by all Shalusians and it is considered unclean to not do so by some. Others, however, associate a lack of shaving with military service and therefore manliness. Facial hair is not held in quite the same regard, but it is considered polite to at least keep it trimmed and cleaned.

Religion:

Most Shalusians follow The Treo, a religion of three deities: The Braveman, The Wiseman, and The Caretaker. Followers of the religion are encouraged to follow the alleged deeds of these three, whether that be facing trials like the Braveman, thinking through problems like the Wiseman, or tending to those in need like The Caretaker. It is believed that when one dies, they will be judged by these three deities who will decide if they join them in the afterlife or simply fade away and are forgotten.

In contrast to The Treo are the Traji, known as The Coward, The Fool, and The Glutton. These three are not seen as evil, and more so as tragic figures who could not overcome their flaws and are only remembered as reminders to do well in life.

Cuisine:

Most Shalusians tend to eat a diet of fruits, vegetables, and lentils provided by their planet. Meat is considered a delicacy and is only consumed on occasion, although those of a higher class tend to eat it more often than commoners. Most foods consumed are rather sweet, leading many foreigners to conclude that the Shalusian diet is an acquired taste.

Shalusians also often drink juices and smoothies made of the fruits and vegetables that populate the planet. These drinks have become a popular export for the planet, so much so that even the plants used to make them are now grown across the galaxy.

Military:

With a focus on dealing with insurgencies and civil wars, the Naseef Empire has developed a highly-skilled infantry corps that is adept at precision strikes. Commando strikes are the military's bread and butter, especially among the prestigious Black Daggers. Beyond that, the Naseef Empire has kept a focus on desert warfare on their home planet.

They have had a difficult time adapting to space combat. This was highlighted in their conflict with the Dalarus Empire, in which orbital bombs devastated the planet, and their emerging space fleet was almost wiped out during the short conflict. Since then, their alliance with the Wri Empire has led to an advancement in technology and space warfare tactics.

Traditionally, Shalusian uniforms have been sleeveless to flaunt tattoos. Members of the military are tattooed with hexagons on their left arm. Each Hexagon represents a year in military service and are filled with patterns to represent what branch of service.
