Most of the truth

Sitting in Mrs. Somersby-Walker's cottage you tell her pretty much exactly how you found the cartoon taped to your door. The only bit you leave out of the explanation is the presence of the second cartoon. You did not want to have to describe the scene of the topless student strapped to the pole to this elderly teacher.

Barbara listened with polite interest as you described finding it taped to your door interrupting you only once when you described the confusion you felt when you saw the empty hallway.

"What hallway young man?" She asks easily, "Aren't you staying in the cottages?"

"No I'm in the Dean of Students' office in the Mellon building." You explain and see her look unsettled for the first time setting her cup down with a slight rattle.

"Ms. Naylor assigned you to Miss Marshal's office?" The art teacher's eyes sharpen critically and you sense what it might be like to be one of her misbehaving students. "I heard the male teachers would be rooming in the cottages."

"No, I'll be staying in the suite." You sense her displeasure and you find yourself defending Ms. Naylor from this senior member of the faculty. "She didn't want to, but I insisted."

"I see." She picks up her cup again and takes another sip. "Other than this unfortunate cartoon," she gestures elegantly to the paper you brought to show her, "how have you found our quiet little haven?"

The conversation meanders for a little bit longer until she picks up the paper that brought you to her. "I don't know what Ami's part in this prank is Mr. Hawkfeather, she's from China and may not even realize that this type of cartoon is offensive." She stands gracefully and escorts you to the door before finally tells you what you want to know. "I imagine you'll want to speak to her anyways." She smiles at you and steps aside, "This time of day she is usually down by the lake; she likes the afternoon light."
