Any follow up is smothered by her lips as they fall back to the bed…
Morning meeting
Kael yawns as the morning light streams through the window. He sits up in the bed, careful not to disturb Gabby, who is still fast asleep. There’s a smile on her face even now, and Kael watches her peacefully resting for a moment before climbing out of bed. Grabbing some clothes, he heads to the bathroom to wash himself after last night’s activities.
Afterwards, as he walks towards the living room, the front door opens, and Kael sees Evie step inside. She doesn’t spot him at first, as she waves to Ria outside. The redhead waves in return as she walks away, likely returning to her own home. Kael smiles, seeing that Evie looks considerably more disheveled than usual, and waits for her to notice him. Evie closes the door, and turns around, letting out a startled squeak when she sees Kael.
“Oh! Sorry, master, I didn’t see you there. You surprised me!”
Kael smiles. “Sorry, Evie. How was your night?”
Evie blushes, looking at the floor and smiling. “It was…very good, master. Miss Ria is so wonderful…”
Kael chuckles. “She is. Don’t worry, I won’t press you for details. I’m just glad it went well.”
Evie nods. “And I’m glad things went as well for you, master.”
It’s Kael’s turn to blush. “Yeah. I’ll definitely say that I didn’t expect things to go so quickly with Gabby.”
Evie shrugs. “She’s different than me, master. But the feeling is still there.”
Kael smiles. “Well put. And everyone seems happy with the results.”
Evie giggles. “Of course, master. We all had a good night. Speaking of which, would you mind if I went and cleaned up a bit, master? I could use a quick bath.”
Kael nods. “Of course, go ahead. I don’t have any plans…”
He’s interrupted by a knock at the door. An odd thing, so early. Kael walks over and opens up, finding a courier waiting there.
“Champion Kael, I am sent to inform you that your presence is required by Lord Greyheart, as soon as possible. You are bid to come to the throne room with all haste.”
Kael nods, and the courier bows, before hurrying off. Kael sighs, turning to Evie. “Looks like I have plans after all. I’ll be back as soon as I can. Let Gabby know where I went when she wakes up, okay?”
“Of course, master. Is everything okay?”
Kael shrugs. “No idea. Hopefully this isn’t retaliation for the argument we had. But either way, I need to go.
He gives Evie a kiss, an smiles at the worried looking elf. “Don’t worry, I’ll be fine. See you in a bit.”
And with that, he heads out the door.
