"Oh, sure," she said as she got up, confused about where to go.

"The bathroom is down the hall, I'll come find you in a moment," Venessa said.

"Sounds good," Candace said as she left the room.

"Dammit Venessa, I don't think you are an abomination. It's just........ what happens when their complicated vampire lives start to affect those around them? What about Brandon when he can't do a family barbecue because Ana is a vampire? Or my Dad dies of a heart attack because he can't keep up with Sam's new sexual appetite. Or what about Candace, with all her new confidence, can't find someone who will accept what you turned her into."

Alex grabbed her by the wrist and backed her against the wall. He was shocked that she let him, knowing she could overpower him with ease, but still, he didn't like what he was hearing as he let go of her wrist and placed his hands on her face.

Venessa looked at him intently wanting to hear what he had to say. Alex took a breath for a moment before he continued.

"Ana pointed it out to me. The way I look at you, the way my heart races when I'm with you, the way I......... you know what, forget I said anything, okay," he said as he backed away. "I can't ask you to change what you are, and I'm sorry I tried to. I was being selfish and I'm sorry. If you changed who you are, I wouldn't love you as much as I do."

"Wait," she said grabbing his hand and pulling him back. "Alex, many years ago, I was in love with a human. Someone with a similar blood type to yours, and I thought," she paused as tears filled her eyes. "I thought he loved me too, but........."

"He couldn't get past what you were?"

"My God," Alex said as he stood there listening.

Alex said nothing more and instead just stepped forward and kissed her. She threw her arms around him as he pushed her back against the wall and kissed more passionately, savoring the flavor of her lips, breathing in the scent of her body, and enjoying the warmth she was giving off.

"Um, is this a private party?" A voice said as they turned and saw Candace standing in the doorway looking nervous.

"I'm sorry about her," Venessa said in a low voice.

"It's okay; I'm sure some guy is going to love the shit out of a sexy vampire like her," Alex said as Candace smiled a little.
