What's next?
More driving
The rest of the drive went better.
By the time they got to Green Valley, the awkwardness was a thing of the past, despite Charlie's attire.
"So you really don't remember Blocky?"
"No, I don't." Ethan rubbed the back of his head, trying to think. "You sure I met him?"
"Of course I sure!" Charlie shakes her head. "Jesus Christ, you weren't lying about your memory. You should get that checked out."
Ethan had been sharing all the odd gaps he'd been having in his memory. While he chalked it up to stress, at this point it was getting ridiculous.
And he still had more to remember.
Looking around, Ethan notices they are close to his house. Very close. "Aren't we dropping the kegs off first?"
"Nah," Charlie shrugs. "Figure I'd drop you off first since you're off the hook for unloading."
"Right..." Ethan looks around, very close to his house now. "Makes sense."
Pulling into his driveway, Charlie lets out a sigh. "I'll drop off the cash tonight. Might be a few hours. Gonna shower first, and you should too."
Casually, sniffing himself, Ethan thinks that sounds like a good idea.
Getting out of the trunk, Ethan waves Charlie off, noting aloud he'll see her in a few hours.
Watching her drive off, he's only got one thing on his mind...
