this is just to explain how certain things in the main story came to be, like slavery for example.

How slavery still exists in this alternate world:

Slaves can be captured in war, bred, or made. A **** captured in war is literally any combatant who does not surrender but is subdued and captured. Once enemy combatants are restrained and in the custody of Roman soldiers, they cannot legally surrender and therefore, are not protected under the Geneva conventions. A **** who is impregnated by their owner gives birth to a baby who is also a ****, unless the owner decides to legitimize the **** as a “**** wife”. In which case, the **** baby becomes a legitimate member of the owner’s family. A **** is made when a free person willingly surrenders their freedom to another person. This is typically what women who fall in love with married Dommes will do in order to be with the Domme they love.
