Chapter 423 by voidcaller17

What Next?

More Research

I spend the next hour and a half sparring with my Guild members. After that Luna and Innu join us. They tell us everything's done, but they've locked the party rooms. They spar with the others before they return to their rooms. Once it's just Verona, Gaia, Luna, Innu, and I are alone Verona runs over to me.

"Eric, let me see that Scythe!" Verona says eagerly. I see Gaia sigh before smiling behind her.

"Sure, as I told you earlier, it's a Corrupted weapon. But I'm not sure what that means entirely." I say while taking the Scythe out. I make it grow as my arms get covered in roots.

"Being Corrupted means that it was changed by magic. Corrupted implies it was dark magic like Undead, Abyss, ****, and so on. There's a similar term called Blessed, where an item is changed by light magic. That being Light, Holy, and so forth. But they're basically an advanced form of Enchanting. Just instead of giving an item a new Spell or Skill, they change the item on a fundamental level. They can give it entirely new and unheard-of abilities or forms." Verona explains while examining the Scythe. She puts on gloves and runs her hands along the Scythe. I do notice the gloves have magic in them. "Now, tell me what your Observe skill told you about this." She says before standing straight. I tell her what I read, causing her eye to sparkle brightly.

"You succeded in growing a Corrupted Forest Core!?" Verona asks excitedly before Gaia hits her head and turns to me.

"Are you feeling okay? Do you feel nauseous at all?" She asks worriedly.

"I'm fine, why?" I ask back causing her to sigh in relief.

"Corrupted Forest Cores are very rare, but there's one thing that's known about them. They need a massive amount of mana to grow. But since they take that mana from one's blood, they kill whoever tries to grow them. But due to their rarity, most people who find one don't learn of this until it's too late." Gaia explains.

"Yeah, now that you mention it, it did take a lot of blood. I had to keep using Healing Hands to recover." I say causing her to sigh. "Anyway Verona, can you find out what kind of liquid this is? I'd like to avoid using it until I know it's safe."

"Yet you used it against me." Verona replies cheekily.

"Hey, I knew you'd be fine. There's no way you'd die from one attack, and with Gaia here, I knew it'd be fine if it poisoned you." I reply causing her to laugh.

"Jokes aside, it's dangerous. You could call it a type of poison. It inflicted me with a low-level Undead Curse. Since I'm a Goddess, I'm immune to it. But you could easily infect your average Lyna or human with this. That and it's painful. It's highly acidic, it can easily burn skin. So for your sake, don't tell the government about the Undead Core you grew. Also don't use this against anything other than monsters."

"Will do, thank you." I say before lifting the Scythe up.

"Wait, can I collect some of this? It's something unique to that grown Core. Meaning it's never been discovered before. I want to see what else it does besides turn people to Undead and cause pain."

"Sure, do you have something to hold it in?" I ask causing her to smile. She reaches into the air and pulls out a glass jar. She holds it under the tip of the Scythe. I hold it up so it runs down the blade. It takes a minute, but I fill the jar.

"Thank you, I'll be off now to research this. We'll talk later." Verona says before disappearing. Gaia tells me bye before doing the same. I tell Luna and Innu, who've been sparring this whole time, bye before leaving. I enter my Domain and find Asami talking to Ramia.

"Hello Master, I hear you gave Ramia some blood?" Asami says causing me to nod. "I hope you remember what's happening tomorrow. We need you at your best, okay?"

"Don't worry, I will be." I reply. I better keep quiet about the blood I gave to the Corrupted Forest Core. I think before turning to Ramia. "How did your experiments turn out?" I ask her.

"I'm not sure yet. For now, I'm having one of the flowers sit in a vase with your blood as the water. I'm going to see how it responds to that first, but that'll take a day for any results to appear." Ramia explains causing me to nod.

"Are you ready for dinner Master?" Asami asks causing me to nod.

"Wait, what time tomorrow will the party be?" I ask her before she disappears.

"We'll be starting it around eleven AM. But we'll need to be there half an hour earlier to get ready and in case anyone arrives early." Asami says before leaving. I get up and tell Ramia I'll see her in a bit before entering my blacksmith's workshop. There's one more item I want to make for tomorrow. I melt down some Magic Iron and create six metal plates. I make a small box that'll hold them all. The box doesn't have any walls, and is just lines of metal where the sides of the plates will meet. I take one of the plates and Engrave the Runes for Barrier, Sound, and Block. I do the same for four more. On the last one I cut a hole where I place a Magic Gem into. I place the plates in the box. I take the Gem out before I Engrave the Runes for Activation and Take Mana around the Gems spot. I place the Gem back in, causing the other Runes to activate. I smile seeing the box light up. I place my phone near it and turn on some music. I walk away and as soon as I get a few feet away, the music stops. I turn back and see the song is still playing on screen. I walk back toward it as the sound returns. Great! This will be good for Jess when she has her classes. I should Observe it just in case. I think before Observing the box and turning the music.

Sound Barrier Box, Rare

This Box has the ability to block out sound. It creates a barrier about eight feet wide. It will center around the Box. The Box uses a Mana Gem as a battery. The mana Gem will recover mana over time, while not in use.
