More Fights

"Eric, follow me please." Kallen says standing up and leaving the room. I see Myla and Liz look at me with a confused expression before the three of us stand and catch up to Kallen. He leads us down into a basement where a large white crystal, almost as tall as me, stands against a wall. Kallen touches it and the world around us disappears and is replaced by a large dirt covered field. "This is a sparring ground. I'd like to spar with you." Kallen says turning around to face me.

"Why?" I ask confused and a bit startled.

"I'd like to test you, and one of the best ways I've found to do this is sparring." He answers. I sigh and decide to try Observing him, and to my surprise it worked.

I push aside my thoughts and excitement for Observe.

"What are the rules?" I ask swapping to my combat gear.

"They're simple. Just come at me and fight for as long as you can. I should mention I will be fighting back." He says pulling out a sword from a barrel full of spears, swords and daggers. "Liz and Myla, could you two start us off." Myla looks at her father confused and Liz jumps forward exited, raising her arm up.

"Okay! You'll start on three. One... Two... Three!" She swings her arm down on three. I decide to try out my new skills. I bring out my Dark Claws, Dark Boots. and cast Ancient Beastial **Strength. I create a Dark Chain wrapping around my right claw and connecting to my katanas new ring. It clips on only costing me 5 MP. I raise my katana up with the tip pointing at Kallen and cast Explosion, marking the blade. I toss it at him and I see him smile. He hits it mid air and the bade stops. I activate the Explosion** mark and catch Kallen off guard. My blade explodes and a cloud of smoke appears.

"I'm impressed Eric, in only a few days you've already learned at least three new spells." Kallen says stepping through the smoke. I pull on the chain, drawing my katana back to me. Kallen appears in front of me and swings right when I get my katana back. I barely managed to parry his blade with my own and feel my arms buckle from his strength.

"Oh, this is a different weapon than the one you used before."

"Yeah, I don't like to waste time." I say before casting Blink and appearing behind him. I turn quickly and duck under his next attack. I mark the ground with Explosion before jumping back and immediately activating it. It explodes and creates a cloud of dust and smoke.

I wait for the cloud to dissipate while keeping my katana ready. I see an image from Clairvoyance showing Kallen getting me from behind. I quickly turn and cast Ancient Beast Slash, hoping to catch him off guard. He dodges, but barely and I Multicast Flare before immediately casting Blink to close the distance. I swing my blade down on him and he blocks it but doesn't see my Flare in time.

Kallens shirt catches fire and he jumps back, trying to put distance between us to put it out. I Blink to him and Multicast Thunder and Flare on my blade. I see him smile before a bright light emanates from his sword. I cover my eyes and jump straight up, trying to do what my gramps did. I feel something grab my ankle and pull. I start getting tossed and look down to see Kallen. I cast Swap on us and take his place, for 110 MP. I see Kallen get tossed with the **** he used on me. I cast Ancient Beast Slash again and see his blade glow, although nowhere near as bright as before. He gets his feet under him and swings, cutting through my spell. His blade cracks and falls apart the moment after. I Blink to him and swing my blade down. He creates another light and draws another sword from it. This one has vines along the hilt and guard. The blade is sharp and has what looks like runes engraved onto it. He blocks my attack with it and swings, sending me a few feet back. I look up and see him charging me. I barely get my blade up in time to get hit again.

I manage to land with my feet under me. I Blink again and bring my blade down on his back. He dodges and swings at me again. I block and tumble backwards.

I decide to try something and Multicast Summon Beast three times. I chose to summon the Spectral Owl and Wolf, and the third forces me to choose a random. The owl and wolf appear with a troll as my third. I order the wolf and troll to attack and for the owl to fly straight into Kallens face. My plan works and Kallen attacks the owl. His blade passes straight through the owl and leaves it unharmed. The troll raises both arms and slams down onto him. Kallen barely dodges and, thanks to the owl blocking his view, the wolf bites down on his sword arm.

I run up behind him and swing down on his back while the troll swings his arm at him. Kallen raises his free arm and a blindingly bright light appears and sends me flying.

I open my eyes and see Kallen standing above me, with his sword pointing at my throat.
