Monday Afternoon

Lukas put his phone in his pocket after he hung up from his call with his mum. His brother had gone home sick with some sort of stomach bug so Lukas didn’t have to walk him home. He grabbed his bag and began walking through the car park.

“Hey Lukas.” He turned to see Olivia walking over to him with her handbag slung to her side and her binder held to her chest.

“Hey Olivia.” He greeted her and waved.

She stopped in front of him. He could smell her perfume. It was like strawberries and honey. “How’s it going?”

He shrugged. “Not to bad, my brother is sick so I don’t have to walk home with him.”

She nodded. “Well if you don’t have any plans want to go get something to eat?”

Lukas blinked. Did the she just ask him out? Was he dreaming? He shook his head and realised he hadn't answered her.

"Oh sure, where to?" He said.

“Just something light. Ice Cream maybe.” She suggested.

"Sounds good." Lukas said.

Olivia nodded and motioned her head for him to follow. They soon reached her car.

The drive was short.

Olivia had taken them to the local ice cream parlour. It was a cute place, small and not to crowded.

Olivia had ordered a cookies and cream cone, while Lukas got a chocolate ice cream cone. They took their seats outside but before they started Olivia took a photo of them and posted it on her story.

"So you didn’t call… or text.” Olivia said.

"Sorry." Lukas apologised. "I had a bit on my mind.” He wasn’t lying but he wasn’t going to say who was on his mind.

Olivia nodded.

They chatted for a while. Lukas was amazed that Olivia was interested in him.

"I was wondering." Lukas began. "Why did you ask me out today?"

"Oh." She looked down.
