Modify the webcam
I remember there were some interesting settings available when I installed the webcam that I didn't dig into. I quickly locate the features and enable the noise activation setting. Touted as a home security feature, the camera has a built-in passive microphone that can wake the camera up. I then adjust the settings to send me a notification when the camera activates and to allow remote login to the live video-only feed.
I am a terrible person, I know.
