Moderate Company Assets

At the Moderate tier, Assets start to fall into two categories. Either they create a persistent and exploitable alteration to one person’s behavior or personality, or they alter reality in a way that is somehow tightly restricted to a single subject or individual.

Cupid’s arrow: an old classic, frequently renamed to fit into local mythology. This projectile can take any form from an arrow, to a bullet, to a golfball. People less than 2 tiers higher than the user will be unable to notice when the “arrow” is aimed or fired. When launched, the user can specify a person or category of person; the next time that the person struck (they will be completely unharmed) sees the specified individual or someone meeting the description, they will fall deeply in love with that person. Note that (per the source material) this love falls under the Ancient Greek conception of love as madness, does not ensure compliance unless paired with a binding, and if not reciprocated will frequently lead to yandere behaviors even in otherwise reasonable individuals. One Use.

Greater normalization scroll: Allows the user to make something that is currently true into something that is not only acceptable but inevitable and acceptable. The princess recently struck by Cupid’s Arrow not only obviously loves you, she has always loved you since the day you two met (which may in the minds of those involved be years before you actually met), her fiancé will graciously step aside, her friends will be excited for you, and her father the king will graciously accept you into the family. Some complications may still arise if you do not include them in your short written statement on the scroll. “The princess loves me and wishes to marry me” and “the princess is a member of my harem of devoted lovers” are both valid but account for different hangups that others may have. One use.

Bottled consent: after someone consumes this liquid, for the next 30 minutes they will enthusiastically consent to and participate in any course of action presented to them by the first person to speak to them or the contractor this item is keyed to (the employee may order them to ignore the first person, but not vice versa). They will never regret following through, even in retrospect, and will rationalize why they are doing it to the best of their abilities. Note that while they will never regret doing as you suggest, they might still have a change of heart within that context. “Let’s have sex,” only means that they will have a single sexual experience with you that they won’t regret, “let’s get married” can still theoretically end in divorce or separation, and “come over to my place to fuck every Tuesday for the rest of your life” might lose its charm over time. Take care when presenting multiple suggestions or speaking casually, as conflicting orders can lead to erratic behavior and they will consent even to accidental suggestions. (Ah, fuck that guy. I hate him.) One Use.

Reward for Service: This asset can be activated when someone is indebted to you for some manner of voluntary service. It allows you to make a request of someone and have it be honored without complaint and treated as an entirely reasonable request. The request can be excessive, but must logically follow on from the service provided and be at least vaguely proportional by some kind of external metrics. Save a damsel in distress, gain her heart and hand in marriage. Drive off an invading army, gain a noble title and dominion over a large segment of the occupied area. Save a girl at a bar from some creep who just wanted to sleep with her, go home with her that night for some fun. One Use.

Greater Waters of Lethe: causes someone to completely and permanently lose all episodic memories of their life and become very suggestible for around half an hour. During this hour they will uncritically accept anything the contractor tells them as absolute truth. Their personality, values, and even deep traits like sexual orientation can shift radically to accommodate these changes. In many cases, though not all, the drinker will proceed to fabricate a full set of memories built around what they were told, which they will “remember” over the course of 2-7 days. This new set of memories primarily exists to explain away any inconsistencies and reintroduce them to any skills or specialized knowledge they may have while reinforcing whatever they were told. One use.

Memory charm, greater: radically alters someone’s memory. Like the Greater Waters of Lethe, these leave the affected in a mentally open state where they will accept a statement as absolute truth. Where this differs is that the target will retain their own personality and identity, integrating the change into their current persona instead of building a new one around it. The changes can be almost as radical, for example turning an enemy general into your lover, ally, and confidante, but unless you tell them otherwise they are likely to believe that either you or they are on some kind of deep undercover mission to explain the fact that you are on opposite sides in a war and have publicly clashed on the field of battle before. One use.

Greater Relationship Shift: As the Lesser Relationship Shift, but it also allows wholesale warping of reality in the process. You may still only directly alter things in terms of your relationship to one another, but ripple effects are to be expected, with the user able to ensure that certain things do or do not change. A young wizard might take the elderly witch he was apprenticed from her deathbed and turn her into his age appropriate girlfriend on the back of their strong student/teacher relationship while maintaining her power and fundamental personality. A man might attempt to resurrect a loved one by altering his own relationship with the murderer into something with a less deadly catalyst; it might even work.

Fiendish Contract: Any agreement written on this scroll, which is large enough to contain about one page of text, becomes magically binding. All parties must willingly sign the scroll, though they need not actually have read it. The contractor may amend the Fiendish Contract at any time, though doing so voids any prior signatures and the effects do not kick in unless all named parties with obligations in the contract have signed. There is no punishment for someone breaking the contract; instead, their side of the bargain will become their highest moral principle. Failure to comply will become as heavy on the conscience as murdering a child, while compliance will feel spiritually nourishing and “right”. Even most complete monsters have some form of twisted morality; this will trump all moral foundations for that world view.

Elixir of Alteration, Greater: this potion functions as a Elixir of Alteration, Lesser, except that all of its effects extend past the drinker. In the event that someone drinks a potion to turn them into a big titty goth elf, their clothes will all shift to fit their new proportions and aesthetic. All of their friends and family will recognize and accept them without any trouble. If they are from a setting without elves, elves will become a species in that setting. If they are mentally altered to believe that they have always been big tiddy goth elf girlfriend, their personal timeline will be altered into a version of their own life where they were, possibly creating or erasing some relationships (though never erasing or dramatically weakening any relationship with the contractor). If new skills are implanted, such as our example elf becoming a witch, they will gain a level of mastery comparable to that of whatever their most advanced skill may be (whether that’s swordplay or Metroid speed running).

Pact stamp: Similar in concept to the Fiendish contract, but approaching from a different angle. When used, this item causes the importance of some deal or relationship the target is involved with to become a core part of their personality. A girlfriend becomes absolutely devoted to their significant other even if they had been considering a breakup. A McDonald’s employee becomes the fanatical devotee of their manager (or of the company). An ally of convenience will see their counterpart as a close ally to be protected and appeased at all cost. The user of the Asset decides which relationship and which aspects of it will be magnified; a gold digging girlfriend could be turned into a devoted trophy wife or a black widow depending on what parts of the relationship are emphasized. One use.

Skill chip, Greater: these removable adhesive patches contain mastery of a certain skillset, comparable to five years training under a master in the field followed by five years of working in a field that requires this skillset frequently. Due to the sheer amount of procedural memory integrated into the patch, it is fairly common that it will come with mental baggage, false memories, and personality traits associated with this skillset.

Greater Temptress Bell: any antagonistic feelings the victim has towards the user will be twisted into a desire to have mutually enjoyable sex with the user. They will perceive this as an appropriate response, thinking of it as an appropriate form of protest, vengeance, or antagonism regardless of any form of evidence to the contrary. They may hate or wish to bully you, but they will think that consensual sex is the correct way to convey that hatred.

Platinum card: Everything is for sale, if you can afford it. When in a place of business, whether that is a grocery store or a patreon page, the holder may negotiate to purchase of any good or service that the merchant has the right to give. They will feel no repulsion towards the negotiation itself, and will clinically and accurately assess how much money they would need to be offered before agreeing. The cute bartender is likely unsurprised that you would like to sleep with her and will set her price according to her willingness to engage in casual sex without any negative baggage associated with prostitution entering into the question; if she finds you attractive and you work with her schedule, it could be very low indeed. She will also casually discuss the price she would need to be paid to **** someone without it negatively impacting her view of the card holder. Unlimited uses.

Tier 3 capture ticket: allows the “capture” of any individual of tier 3 or lower, permanently ensuring their loyalty as well as their romantic and sexual interest in the user. This applies to most people who are operating within the bounds of normal human capacity whose primary power comes from their ability to act as individuals. This would apply to most special forces operatives, but not a major world leader or a shonen protagonist. One use.

A Price on Love: choose one target. You will be given a mission appropriate their tier which is in line with their interests and desires, with their capture (as with a capture ticket) as the reward for success. A tier one might only require that the user help fix their car, a tier four low-end superhero might require that you help defeat their nemesis, a tier seven ancient dragon might require the conquest of a nation or retrieval of an ancient and jealously guarded treasure, and a tier 10 god might require that you spread their faith to all corners of the world displacing or incorporating all other faiths.

Disposable binding, lesser: gain a one use version of one of the lesser bindings available from the company. The Company Stamp places a mark which captures any individual you can firmly affix the ink stamp to after 3 days. The Hypnotic App allows you to slowly hypnotize and eventually rewrite the entire personality of a single target. A piece of Tempest Jewelry will use a set of positive and negative reinforcements to condition the wearer into or out of certain patterns of behavior. VIP service- for 24 hours your importance is vastly magnified where it would benefit you. No door is locked unless it is held by an open enemy, power seekers will congregate around you, and people will listen to you and consider your opinions seriously. Some of this energy will linger in all those affected, especially among those you met for the first time under this effect. One use.

Reversing Mirror: you may invert one thing about a person reflected in this mirror. For example, you might make them hate their best friend, revere their worst enemy, make a nymphomaniac chaste or vice versa, or even something more esoteric like making a mighty but stupid male warrior into a powerful and wise female wizard. One use.

Pocket Dungeon (defense): Creates or converts a structure, cave, or ruin into a defensible location staffed with creatures that are friendly to you. Depending on the location, luck, and the benevolence of the GM, this dungeon could be anything from a comfortable harem full of affectionate monster girls stocked with delicious food to an ancient tomb full of stinking zombies that will protect you but will be extremely unpleasant to spend time with. The size and power level of the dungeon scales with your own tier to be just barely able to protect you from someone two tiers higher, and the inhabitants have an intense case of agoraphobia that will make it difficult to convince them to come with you.

Pocket Dungeon (treasure): Creates or converts a structure, cave, or ruin into a defensible location staffed by aggressive monsters guarding treasure. The design of the dungeon will typically be thematically linked to your surroundings or the thing used as a focus for the magic. For example, an oil lamp might create a portal to a desert palace filled with evil genies and traps. The dungeon will scale to your power level at the time of its creation, factoring in all assets available, such that both your **** and your success are plausible if you take this moderately seriously. Typically the dungeon will contain 5 treasures of ascending value, scaled to your tier. Treasures are typically valuables relatively easy to convert into liquid assets, expensive but conventionally available items from your host world like magic items or useful technology, minor company assets, or prisoners that will automatically be captured and join your retinue if rescued.
