Misty's Date: Part Two

Shar dropped Misty off in the big empty round room then after a gesture towards the stairs left abruptly. The big woman had seemed quite tense, not at all her normal playful self. Clearly something was on her mind. It was almost enough to distract Misty from her own problem. Almost.

At the top of the stairs she found Laura waiting for her wearing a black skirt this time but with another wine red blouse only without a jacket.

"Misty, hi. I've been really looking forward to talking with you and catching up. If the memories aren't too painful for you."

"Thanks." Misty told her while being led into the lavish living area. "It's nothing I can't talk about, old wounds long scabbed over."

"Well that still sounds bad. Lets sit here and maybe some wine will help while we talk. I can go first if you like?"

Misty accepted her glass of the dark red "No it's fine, and simple if sad. You know already now about what happened and can probably figure that the timing really messed up finals for me. The school was going to let me retake them after the doctors were done with me but I was too despondent at that point. I moved back in with my parents briefly but after they got hit with the medical bills since I was on their insurance they kicked me out."

"They what?!"

"I can't really blame them, though it really hurt at the time, and it wasn't out the door right that second. They gave me some time but couldn't afford both the bills and paying for my upkeep. Or at least that's what they said. I haven't talked to them since."

"So what did you do?"

"I found a halfway house to stay at while I worked on receiving disability that accepted post payment. During my time there I spent a lot of time with my cards, wallowing in grief but also just trying to find peace and cope. A crash of thunder interrupted Laura's reply and both women looked out the window of the nook in shock to see there was now a raging storm outside.

"Oh this isn't good. This isn't good at all." Misty muttered.

"What? What's wrong?"

"Shar told me yesterday that she's tied to the local weather, to her mood. She seemed pensive when she dropped me off and now this."

"What do you think it is?"

"I have no idea but hope it doesn't get worse."

Candy tagged along to Anna's morning workout, she couldn't get over how her high school friend who had been a touch shorter now towered over her. "Do you think it counts like our challenge transformations?" She asked

"I don't know." Anna replied while lifting from another squat "What does it matter?"

"Well the kiosks sell transformation upgrades, I was wondering if a upgrade would make you taller or stronger. Or both!? But I don't know if they'd work on a treasure transformation."
