Samara POV

I opened my eyes, by which I mean, I opened his eyes. It was a strange feeling, possessing a body so different from my own. Lucas was all hard lines and sharp angles, whereas I was more familiar with the graceful curves of a more feminine figure. Alas, you work with what you have, not what you want.

I cautiously crept through the Everdark. Aside from some minor monsters, I could find no trace of Kilgar'rah.

"Come out, come out wherever you are, you stupid scaly bastard."

I'm not sure how long I spent wandering through the endless void, scaring off goblins and some occasional hellhounds. Weird that they didn't end up in the hells.

"That won't work, young Valentine."

I spun on my heel, locking eyes with a figure wrapped in a dark aura. I can only assume he noticed the grey smoke pouring out of Lucas's eyes, nose, and mouth, seeing as he took a cautious step back.

"Not what you were expecting?"

"So, I take it you're Valentine's patron. Nice to meet finally meet the source."

"Counterspell Superior Dark Aura."

The inky black smoke vanished, revealing a caucasian man, probably in his mid-40s, with a bemused smirk.

"Well, that was unnecessary. You don't even know who I am, do you?"

"Can't say I do. Fortunately for me, all I need to know is where Kilgar'rah is."

He waved a hand as if dismissing a child's opinion.

"He is otherwise occupied, I'm afraid."

"Fine. Tell him Samara Helena has come to haunt him."

I cast Annihilate on myself, and for a brief moment, I felt as Lucas' body was violently turned into dust.

I found myself, as expected, back in the hells. Completely sure of my plan, and not at all hoping desperately that I was right, I looked through Lucas' eyes. For a moment I panicked, I couldn't see anything. But I could hear something. A whisper.

"Lucas, wake up, please wake up."

I breathed a sigh of relief. he was just sleeping. I identified the voice as Lexi's. With a thought, I pushed Lucas into consciousness.

"Get up, sleepyhead, your girlfriend wants to talk to you."

His eyes fluttered open, and just like every time he woke up, my brand appeared someplace new on his body.

I heard his voice through his ears. But I also hear the words as he thought them. A very strange thing, but I got used to it.

"Hey, Lexi, what's up?"

"I was just hoping we could talk about something. Alone."

He looked around his room.

"We are."

"No, I mean alone."

She tapped her finger to her temple.

"Ah. Samara, mind giving us some privacy?"

I rolled my eyes.

"You're lucky I'm such a considerate patron."

I disconnected from him, returning to my loft in the hells.
