Chapter 8 by Spidermind Spidermind

What does the teacher want?

Millennial Petition

Despite being 519 years old, Professor Aurora Millennyo looked like a young woman entering her twenties. Her skin, devoid of any wrinkles, was perfectly hydrated and white, with soft, blonde hair in a gamine-style cut, fiery red lips, and a serene face that reflected centuries of wisdom.

Her Advanced Longevity power (Rank B) allowed her to avoid aging, making her immune to any disease and granting her rapid regeneration. In everyone’s eyes, she was practically immortal, having lived through various historical periods, something that helped her become an excellent historian.

Millennyo liked to dress in rather outdated clothing, usually in the style of the 1950s: full, knee-length skirts with floral prints, crisp turtleneck shirts, stiletto heels, and short gloves.

She looked like an old photograph, a person, or a time traveler.

“What did you want to talk to me about, Professor?” Arthur asked, adjusting his glasses.

For a rather long time, she stared at him with considerable interest in her eyes and a serious expression on her lips.

“Oh, I just wanted to know if you were alright. I heard about the accident yesterday,” her voice sounded worried and somewhat anxious.

“Um… well, I’m doing quite well. Professor Synapsis checked me yesterday and said I’m fine… thank you for your concern,” Arthur said, trying to sound natural, though he actually felt something strange, difficult to explain.

A sigh of relief escaped the professor, followed by an elegant smile. She stood up and, with great ease, walked around the young man.

“That’s wonderful. I was truly afraid you might have some serious aftereffects. You have no idea how many accidents I’ve seen that resulted in lifelong injuries,” she said, placing a hand on his shoulder from behind him.

Now, for Arthur, the situation had gone from strange to quite familiar, and not in a good way. Aside from slight differences, it seemed like a repeat of her conversation with Voltblast, especially when Millennyo said the following:

“I know it’s really tough being the only powerless kid at the university, getting called Hollow and other insults, so I was wondering if I could help you with anything, even if it’s insignificant.” Now her other hand rested on Arthur’s free shoulder.

Suddenly, the young man turned away, breaking contact with the professor. He saw her fiddling with her glove, showing signs of nervousness.

“Um… no, no, I’m fine… it’s silly to worry about someone like me like this. Besides, I’m stronger than most people think,” he said, trying to brush off the professor’s sudden insistence.

A playful giggle escaped Millennyo as she began to ruffle a lock of his hair.

“Hehehe… that was sweet… hehehe… I’ll take you up on that, but remember my offer still stands.” With that, she lunged at Arthur, placing both hands on his chest. “Maybe I’m not as smart as Synapsis, but my knowledge is still vast and enriching.”

Our protagonist didn’t know how to react. The teacher seemed more like an immature teenager than the wise and calm figure of authority he was.

“Hmm… well, thanks anyway… uh… I think it’s time for me to go. I want to do something in the library and I don’t want to be late again like yesterday.”

“Of course, young Adams, who am I to hinder the learning of such a diligent student, goodbye.” Millennyo stepped back, grabbed her skirt to bow, and smiled the biggest smile anyone had ever seen on her.

Feeling much more uncomfortable than when he’d been with Voltblast, all he could do was smile back and leave.

«Good heavens… what a strange day.»

Can you relax in the library?
