Chapter 105

Michelle reads the policy

As Alexa filled the others in on what happened, Michelle scrunched her nose. “If he was firing you because of your diapers, why would he use that kind of wording?” Michelle asked. “Can I read the policy?”

Alexa nodded as she gestured to the website that was still pulled up. “Alternative lifestyle?” Diane said. “What does that mean?”

“Wait…” Michelle said as she thought more of the events that transpired. “You don’t think… no it couldn’t be… we’re past that… even the YMCA changed their policies…”

“What is it?” Carol asked.

Michelle looked disturbed. “Well,” she said. “There used to be certain companies that would… bar certain people from their companies. They would do this by phrasing it in a way that sounded like it made sense, but it really was just to prevent certain people from joining their company. Usually targeted at a group in particular. But it couldn’t be I mean, it’s 2021.”

“What are you saying?” Carol asked. “I still don’t understand.”

“Don’t you think it’s kind of weird that Yawena didn’t really directly say why Alexa was let go?” Michelle said. “Do you think… do you think it was because she was kissing me in the photo?”

Carol tilted her head, realizing what Michelle was saying. “I…” Carol said.

Diane stood up, an anger burning inside of her as she looked at the policy on the website. “That’s got to be it,” she said. “I think I’m going to have a little talk with Mr Yawena. I’ll be right back.”

Diane pulled out her phone and began typing immediately. The others sighed. “I need a change,” Alexa mumbled.

“Alright,” Carol said. “Come on.”

Carol took Alexa’s hand and walked with her to the changing table.

In the distance, Diane could be heard yelling, although none of the others could hear what she was saying, the only thing that they did hear was. “Oh don’t worry, I’ll definitely be getting my lawyers involved.”
