Background:

Metis was created in the celestial realms, and was tasked as a recorder of knowledge and the history of the realms. She was very respected in this role and many of the generals of the celestials came for her guidance when making plans.

Metis however craved ever more knowledge than was available to her in her position, and began to research topics that the celestial leaders had forbidden. When the schism happened she joined the rebellion in hopes of being allowed freedom in her research, and to find the truths behind knowledge. As such when their side lost she was stripped of her celestial status and labeled a demon.

Finding out Belphegor would be one of the rulers of a demon realm, she petitioned to make her home in the Abyss. Once there she was asked to build the great libraries of Gehenna, and did so with pleasure, as it also allowed her the freedom to gather any knowledge she desired.

It is also rumored that it is one of Metis’s scrolls that was found by Hawwah and resulted in the exile from their walled city s, and it’s destruction.

About twenty five hundred years ago, she found herself drawn to Belphegor while constructing the study within his home. From this they brought forth a daughter, who was named Eos.

Both the parents lavished their child with love, even while sending her to the royal nursery to be raised by it’s tutors. Metis helping build a large library attached to the school, for the young ones and their teachers.

Shortly before Eos was to graduate from the nursery and be accepted into society, another fallen celestial, Resheph, attacked the nursery hoping to leave Belphegor distraught for his upcoming challenge. In the attack Eos was killed and Resheph ate her soul along with several other younger demons.

This left Metis heartbroken, and she could not bare to stay in Gehenna any longer, so she petitioned the kings of the Infernal realms to allow her to move to another. Belphegor who was heartbroken by the loss of several of his prodigy, and still caring deeply for her did not object and so she was allowed to move to another infernal realm.

Since leaving Gehenna after losing her daughter, Metis’s studies have taken a much darker tone. Since that event, she has been seeking out knowledge of how to bring back a lost soul from oblivion.

Personality:

Metis had always been a very curious person, preferring the company of scrolls and books to others. As she gathered more knowledge, it just drove her to seek even more. This drive resulted in her joining the rebellion and losing her celestial status.

Becoming a demon did not change her life much, in fact she believes it made her more free. Since then she not only has been allowed to research anything she desires without restrictions, but also build structures that could share that with others.

Her temperament somewhat mellowed when she had a child, who she found a love for as she never knew before. When that child was taken from her it nearly broken her, and she withdrew back into her books and seeking knowledge. Now pursuing the dark arts to find someway to bring her daughter back, even though her soul had been devoured.
