Chapter 19 by Cham3leon Cham3leon

What do you talk about?

Mention how good the composer was

"I thought that was a really good performance," you say brightly. "I know classical music isn't for everyone, but Brahms has some really powerful music."

"So, you know a lot about classical music then?" Gabrielle raises an eyebrow in mild interest.

"Well, I wouldn't say a lot," you grin. "But my mother insisted I learn piano as a child -"

"My father did the same for me," your date laughs, her eyes brightening somewhat.

"...Well, I don't know about you, but I hated it for ages, being **** to play boring classical music. But then my mum taught me how to play one of Brahms' Hungarian dances. Playing as a duet was way more fun, and the style of music was so much different from Mozart's repetitive, simple motifs. It kind of made me realise that classical music wasn't all bad - I'd just not found the right kind of music that I liked. So I thought I might impress you with my hard-earned Brahms knowledge," you admit with a smile.

"Well, consider me impressed," Gabrielle smiles back. Her slight French accent is so alluring. "I never got past the stage of disliking having to play classical music. Not to say that I didn't enjoy the concert," she quickly assures you.

"What kind of music do you like, then?" you ask.

She thinks for a few seconds, then says, "I have quite a soft spot for country."

"Country music?" you repeat, surprised.

"Yes," chuckles the blonde musically. "I used to listen to 'Sweet Home Alabama' every day when I was sixteen. A little bit of rebellion against my mother, who always hated the stuff."

Before you know it you're at the restaurant, and the two of you take your seats, still talking about music, getting along swimmingly. You're so engaged you almost forget that you're on a date with the most beautiful, sought-after girl in the university, if not the continent. Eventually, however, you sense the conversation running out of steam, and decide to try changing the topic.

How do you shake up the conversation?
