Heading downstairs, Carol took a moment to hum to herself a tune from an old show that Caroline had shown her the other day. She was such a kind daughter in that regard. What would she do without her? Not much, that was for cer-
Before Carol could finish that thought, she was cut off by a glimpse of May. Caroline had said nothing about her granddaughter showing up. Quite rude of her to do to an old lady. She was willing to let it slide, though.
"Who the heck are you?" May announced and Carol froze. She hadn't practiced for this in the slightest. Could she even get through a conversation without blowing her cover in one way or another?
Only one way to find out. Letting out a sigh, Carol composed herself to the best of her abilities.
