Meeting up

Clutching her newly bought brooch in her hand, Eris races toward the designated meeting spot, eager to show off her new purchase to her friends. She sees them already waiting for her and she gives a big wave.

“Guys, look at what I bought for 50 gold pieces!” Eris proudly holds out the brooch, waiting for the inevitable looks of envy. Instead, she is met with heavy silence.

“Uhm. Did you say 50 gold pieces?” Marcus swallows nervously.

“Yeah? Why?”

“I think..” He trails off as he wonders how best to break the news to Eris. “You got swindled.”

“What?” Eris feels a pit opening up in her stomach.

“50 gold is a lot of money. Even at boutique shops, a brooch like this only goes for 10 gold pieces at most. And those have precious gem stones embedded in them.” He explains.

“But the seller told me this belonged to the Queen of Mestopa! It’s a one of a kind item.”

“Yeah, I’ve never heard of that place before.” Celia butts in. “Who sold this to you? I’ll go kick his ass and get your money back.”

“Forget it.” Brandon cuts her off. “He’s probably long gone. Besides I heard sales are binding here. If you got scammed, it’s on you.”

Eris staggers as she realizes she’s just spent all the money her dad gave her on worthless junk. “No, this can’t be! There must be something we can do!”

Brandon just shrugs. “It’s fine. The rest of us should have kitted out enough that you shouldn’t need much money for the next trip at least.”

“You could also always work at the red light district to earn some quick gold.” Celia winks as Marcus chokes on his saliva.

“No! If Eris needs money, I’ll give it to her. She doesn’t need to work there. I’ve saved up a bit from working at the apothecary.”

“Thanks for offering Marcus, but I need to learn to stand on my own. If it comes down to it, I’ll have to find my own way to earn back the gold.” Eris’ eyes burn with steely resolve. “Alright, enough moping. I’ve decided which Demon General we will face first! Are you guys ready?"

Following every Act, Eris will return to the Royal Capital where she can purchase new equipment, work at the Red Light District or progress events with her friends.
