Maybe I Can Be Taught?

"How do you know I'm any good?" I follow it up, tilting my head to the side a little and smiling up at him.

"I'm sure you're good," he reassures me, "I can tell. I can pick them out. I'd be willing to put money down on it, make a bet. You? You're a natural?"

My smile goes a little lopsided and I lean in closer to him.

"Are you saying that one look at me is all it takes for you to see that I'm a natural at handling balls?"

Now that is, perhaps, the boldest possible play I could make. I mean talk about writing a check your ass can't cash, I could have been truly screwed here.

On so many levels, both literal and figurative.

I mean first of all, I was practically promising the guy that I could handle his balls for him. And being that he was a college student with a general fratty look about him I had no illusions, I figured he would be far more than willing to put that to the test.

And the fact was that I didn't know if I could really measure up. My experiences to now had been fleeting and Emily had even less than me. To say that I knew my way around anything sexual, even strictly solo activities, was really overselling my talents.

And then of course there was the double fact that Rachel hadn't sent me over here to do any of that and the fact that I didn't really know whether I wanted to do any of that. No, scratch that second part.

Doing anything with a guy as hot and handsome as Jake here sounded undeniably appealing. I couldn't help but think about how much fun it would be, how good it would feel.

But only for me. For him? I didn't know if I could make a man like this feel good.

But I was pretty sure that I wanted to try.

"Problem," I started, opting for confession with a pout on my lips and a bit of nervous indecision in my tone, "Is that I'm really quite inexperienced. I mean, Jake, I'm a freshman and where I came from... well let's just say that good girls knew that they shouldn't play with balls.

"So I don't know if I would be any good at it. And since I'm here to win and here to impress I'd hate to bring the whole team down just because I'm no good."

He started to explain but I held up a hand, shaking my head slowly.

"No, as fun as it sounds I gotta say that I'll probably have to pass. I just can't take the risk, can't take the chance. I wish there was another way, but really I just don't want to risk it."

Pouting I smiled sadly at him, "What a pity. I was really thinking we could have some fun."

I turned to walk away, counting my steps until he called out to me.

One.

Two.

Three.

"Wait."

Stop. Smile. Wipe that smile off my face. And turn.

"Maybe..." he said, half-stammering as he tried to play it off as smooth, "Maybe I could teach you?"

"Like a tutor?" I asked.

"Like a trainer," he explained.

And I smiled and sashayed my way back, leaning across the counter again, "Oh that sounds like fun. Because you strike me as the kind of man who wouldn't show me any mercy at all."
