Max

Max sighed as she eyed the shortest stick in her hand, hanging her head.

"Max, wait!" Chloe said as the smaller girl made her way to the gate. "You don't have to do this!"

"Wasn't this your stupid idea in the -" Victoria began, only to stop as Rachel elbowed her in the ribs.

"I'm not going to like it, Chloe," Max said to the blue haired girl as she opened the gate, "but it has to be done."

Rachel and Chloe could only stare glumly as Max slipped through the gate. Even Victoria, while ecstatic that she was going to avoid getting skunked, couldn't help but feel a little bad for the girl as Max closed the gate.

Now in the backyard, Max eyed the skunk in front of her, the small animal looking up at her for a bit.

"Okay, Mr. Skunk." Max began, "I have jumped through time at least four or five times in the span of two days, just so I can make sure that me, my girlfriends, and Victoria don't end up getting sprayed by you or one of your many friends and relatives that have taken over Arcadia Bay. However, the universe seems to have it planned that at least one of us must get skunked in order to put an end to this nightmare."

Taking one last breath of fresh air as the skunk began to turn around, Max closed her eyes and spread her arms out wide, accepting her fate. "And if that is the case, then bring it on."

The other girls winced as they heard the loud hissing noise, a foul oder filling the air as they heard Max cough and wretch from the skunk attack.

"It should've been one of us." Rachel said glumly as Chloe nodded, "She didn't deserve that."

"Oh, for crying out loud!" Victoria groaned, "She's not dead! She just smells like it!"

Both Rachel and Chloe turned to snap at the blonde when the gate opened, revealing Max standing there, coated in skunk musk from head to toe.

"Well," Max muttered to herself, "at least I saved everyone else from this fate..."
