March to war

We purchased new armour. I had gained two pauldrens to put onto my shoulder, leather vambraces for my wrists. I didn’t encumber myself with weighty armour as not to quell my speed. This would be one of my biggest advantages on the battlefield.

Elle got herself similar attire but had tough hide armour to cover her curvy body. Even in armour her voluptuous figure could still be seen.

We travelled far south near the border of Brimeo. War camps had been erected in the time we arrived. Other mercenary groups had been hired to partake in the war. Not just humans were here, I saw elves, dwarves, a few orcs and a minotaur. The orcs and I kept our distance, bad blood between our races being put to the side for the prospect of being paid in this war. The minotaur was a mass of meat and muscle. He looked to have hide like brown skin. Biceps and thighs the size of trunks. The horns on his head looked menacing on their own. He carried a massive war-hammer that looked like it could take out ballistas.

Elle and I found a spot to set up our camp near the edge of the encampments. Other mercenaries and soldiers started to set up their own, enclosing us within the war camps. We couldn’t use our old tent due to its size, so the tent we were given was big enough for just the two of us, making it a squeeze. I didn’t mind the closeness.

Robbbis and the others had their camps situated a few rows away from us. Our neighbours were a dwarf on one side, and the other was a human man and woman. The dwarf had untidy dark brown hair that reached past his shoulders, he tied it back out of his face. His name was Rend. He had a short but strong and stocky frame and carried two great-axes.

The human man and woman were sexual partners. Alec and Tana. He was a strapping young man with slicked light brown hair and a clean shaven face. Tana had short chestnut hair that barely passed her ears. She had a medium build. Alec wielded a long sword, Tana had a rapier style sword.

We got the chance to share some conversation with them. Rend came from the mountains of Cotal, a large settlement of dwarves. Though my kind have fought with dwarves in the past, those dwarves were from different settlements that had grudges against wolvir. Like the stereotype goes, Rend liked to drink. Alec and Tana came to know each other through mercenary work in the city. They grew close enough to involve themselves in a sexual relationship, but hadn’t got to the point of calling each other their partner.

We told them of mine and Elle’s relationship, and thankfully didn’t judge. There were rumours that the minotaur was fucking a human.

We awaited our orders to see our placement in the battle plans. The main commander of vanguard was a knight named Sawyer, Dusker of the malleum was the second.

Robbis showed up at our tent to give us direction of our first real taste of war.
