Maou meets April

“April, this is the Maou. I’m transporting you to your workshop,” Gob heard him say and in the same stomach-churning instant they were standing in April’s workshop. It was pitch black until the Maou lit the lanterns with a gesture.

A very confused April was with them. Gob blushed as she was wearing nothing but the cropped vest and some white panties, the fabric of the top was so thin that Gob could make out her nipples through it. When she saw the Maou she fell to one knee and bowed her head.

“Stand up April. I want to talk to you about these cuffs.”

April stood up and began to babble. “I know, sire. I know they aren’t good enough but I tried my best. I swear, if I had more rare metals and access to stronger curses then I’m sure I could do better.”

“They were wonderful April. I am delighted,” he said with a smile.

“Really?” said April, wiping a tear from her eye.

The Maou then went off on one. He praised the use of metal and geometry in the forging. April quickly got swept up in his excitement and began to explain in detail. Gob understood nothing but he enjoyed watching the excited and scantily clad April explain things in painful detail.

“I want to know, can you do better?” the Maou asked.

April, who had quickly gotten over her fear of the Maou said “Honestly sire, with this current set-up and resources, no.”

“And if you had more access to rare metals and what, better forges I assume, then what?”

“Well, yes. I could easily order the materials if I had the budget for it and yes the forges would have to be upgraded. I would also need some finer tools. There’s also the issue of the curses.”

“Write up a list of everything you would need. Don’t hold back. I’d rather the equipment not be a reason for your failure so order the best. As for curses, let Gob know when you need them and I will help you personally.”

April looked ecstatic. “I’ll write the list now, sire.”

The Maou held up his hand. “It can wait until tomorrow. It’s late and I got you out of bed. I’ll not keep you up any longer.”

“One thing, sire?” April asked. “Does it need to be some kind of restraint?”

“Well, it needs to restrain so I would assume so. Why? What are you suggesting?”

“With the right materials, I think it would be more efficient to make it smaller and lighter like an item of jewellery. It would then give you options to apply multiple items to increase their effectiveness especially if placed at different parts of the body to better interrupt mana flow.”

The Maou rubbed his chin. “I can see where you are coming from but what about restraining the person?

“If I am right and the curses are being done by you sire, I don’t see why conventional restraints wouldn’t be effective enough.”

The Maou looked at Gob. “She is confident. I like that. April, you know the brief. To restrain a being whose power levels approach mine. However you see fit to go about it, you have my permission to proceed. Gob will be your point of contact. Now, goodnight both.” With that, he vanished.

Gob suddenly realised that he was now at the far end of the palace. “Congratulations April, I’m really happy for you. I should start walking back. It’s quite away.”

“Thanks, Gob. You know, if you wanted to stay, I’m too wound up to go back to sleep. There’s plenty of room in my bed if you want to spend the night?” She was blushing as she spoke.

Gob was smart enough to get what she was suggesting. “Yea, sure, if you want some company then, sure.”

April giggled at his nervousness. She walked up to him and took his hand. “Come on, my room is this way,” she said softly and she pulled him along with her.
