Mangani retaliation

"How could you do such a thing?!" Jane said.

We had returned to the tent and had explained what happened in the treehouse to Jane. The young researcher was beside herself with rage. Her eyes were burning angrily as she turned on Clayton, yelling at her.

"Now, Miss Porter," Clayton started to say, defending herself, "as I told you, I was not aiming at the Mangani."

Jane stepped up to Clayton, pointing one finger at her angrily, "You are not to go near the Mangani again!"

The huntress was taken aback somewhat. She laughed nervously, trying to loosen the tension in the tent, "All because of one mishap?" Clayton asked, chuckling slightly, "Come, now..."

Clayton's attempts to soften the group hadn't worked at all. Everyone in the tent, glared angrily at her.

Realising she was outnumbered, Clayton slowly backed out of the tent, chuckling nervously.

The next thing we heard was the sound of a gunshot.

Tarzan's eyes lowered slightly, "Clayton."

As soon as we stepped outside, Clayton was gone.

Fifteen feet away from where we standing, was a group of Mangani. They must be retaliating for Clayton shooting one of them. I got into a fighting stance. Glaze, Tarzan and Tank did the same. Within moments, all four of us charged headlong into battle.

Tarzan swung and stabbed the spear into the bodies of the Mangani.

"Tarzan, you're awesome!" I exclaimed as soon as the last Mangani was disposed of.

Tarzan tilted her head slightly to one side, "Awe... some...?"

It took me a moment to remember that English wasn't exactly Tarzan's first language, "Oh, uh, 'awesome' means..." I folded my arms over my chest, as I tried to think of how to explain, "Well... It's like, really, really great."

It took another moment for Tarzan to fully understand. She then looked at me and smiled, "Awesome."

I grinned, "Awesome!"

"This is no time for an English lesson!" Glaze said.

"She's right," said Tank, "We've go to find Clayton!"

"Oh yeah," I gasped, "If there's Mangani around, then she could be in real trouble!"
