Mallow

Mallow, one of his classmates at the Pokémon School he visited during his stay in the Alola region, had decided to accompany Ash on his trip back to Kanto. His time in the tropical region had come to an end, so she wanted to take the opportunity to travel to a different region in hopes of finding new ideas and recipes for her family restaurant. Of course, Ash had agreed to her request right away, always happy to travel with company.

The two of them were traveling alone, as none of their other classmates ended up coming along for the trip. Even their Pokémon weren't with them at the moment, as Professor Oak had requested that they send Pikachu and Tsareena to his lab in advance.

The Alolan girl didn't seem to have noticed Ash falling behind so far. Instead, her attention was focused on some berry bushes located right by the side of the path. Having kneeled down to get a better look, she was inspecting the various berries with the trained eyes of a chef, likely hoping to find some fresh ingredients to use. Occasionally, one of many would satiate her criteria, getting plucked from the bush and ending up in the berry pouch of her light grey overalls.

With the girl's attention entirely taken up by her search for ingredients, Ash moved his gaze back to the strange remote in his hand. Various buttons with all sorts of colors and strange symbols were spread across its surface, seemingly grouped into various categories with confusing names. Hoping to maybe get some sort of clarity on the strange object, his thumb experimentally moved to press down on one of the many buttons on the remote. With his eyes solely focused on the device, however, he failed to notice the fact that said remote was aimed directly at the unsuspecting Mallow.
