Not wanting to scare it, you don’t immediately reach out and touch the Pokémon. Instead you slowly extend your hand until it is a few inches away. You hold your hand still, letting the Pokémon look at your hand. “There there, I’m not going to hurt you.” The small Pokémon sniffs your hand a little and gives you a look. The Makuhita doesn’t really seem to care that you are petting it as it continues to eat the sandwich. That is until it finishes everything left out. No longer distracted by food it looks at you curiously. “You want some more?” The Pokémon looks at you and its eyes go wide like a child at the mention of food. “Well then.” You reach out to pick it up and are pleased to see that the Pokémon doesn’t resist when you start to hold it. “Let’s get you something. Blue,” Your husband comes out of hiding when you call him. “Grab my bag, would you? I should have some snack bars in there.” With only a slight grumble Blue does as you ask. You look down at the small yellow Pokémon in your arms and are surprised to realize that the Pokémon has fallen asleep in your arms. As you silently look at the Pokémon asleep in your arms you are reminded of a baby, a fat yellow snoring baby.

You are so stunned by the sight and your thoughts that you don’t even notice Blue walking towards you. That is until he taps you on the shoulder, startling you out of your thoughts. Blue glances down at the sleeping Pokémon in your arms, then back at you, shrugs, and starts walking off.

Not wanting to be left behind, or to wake the sleeping baby like Pokémon in your arms, you silently follow after Blue. As you catch up to him you make sure to not jostle the sleeping Pokémon in your arms. You had hoped to capture a new Pokémon today, this was not what you had imagined. But you weren’t complaining.
