Josh felt the moment hang heavy between them, the sexual tension in the room thick enough to cut with a knife. But AISYS's warning, the potential implications of Felicia possibly having Dissociative Identity Disorder, held him back.

"I'd love to stay, but duty calls, Felicia. The night isn't going to patrol itself," His words felt like pebbles in his mouth, hard and unyielding. He reluctantly loosened his grip on her hand and stood.

"Of course. Duty above all else," Felicia murmured, the smile on her face tinged with disappointment.

As Josh stepped out of the building, he immediately queried AISYS. "Alright, I'm listening. What's the plan?"

AISYS materialized, her avatar shifting rapidly—a scientist, a soldier, a scholar. It was like watching a mood ring; Josh was learning that these shifts were her way of adding gravitas, akin to human punctuation. "I'm about to suggest something that, under normal circumstances, would be off the table," her voice taking on a tone he hadn't heard before—serious, tinged with concern.. There's a device, unaccounted for in Biowar's seized assets. I believe it might be in one of her remaining off-site labs. This device was initially designed to block or mitigate psychic or mental manipulation, but it also has the side effect of potentially controlling the mind when calibrated correctly."

Josh raised an eyebrow, his motorcycle roaring to life beneath him. "Mind control? That's a leap and sounds ethically questionable, even for dealing with someone as dangerous as Voltara."

"Correct. Hence part of why I hesitated to bring it up. But think about it—if Felicia does indeed have DID, this device could possibly allow us to converse with each persona directly and isolate Voltara if she is one of them. We might be able to effectively 'lock her in,' so to speak, without affecting Felicia's other personas."

"Ok I'm on board so far, whats the rest of the plan?"

AISYS elaborated, "We need to locate BioWar's abandoned labs and retrieve a device they were developing. The device is likely to be heavily guarded, not just physically but also electronically, which I would normally say would be no problem but if any one could cause us issues in this realm, it would be BioWar. The Real risk he, and why I've not mentioned I had these locations in my records, is the risk that there could be comething in these labs that could trigger one of my core subroutines that that I won't be able to control. Given the level of modification I've been **** to fast track you through without permission already, I'm worried. "

"Once we've acquired the device, I'll calibrate it to specifically target Voltara's neural patterns," AISYS continued. "The second phase will involve you confronting Felicia, triggering Voltara to emerge. During this transition, we'll implant the device."

"That sounds like it could put Felicia at risk," Josh said cautiously.

"Minimal to no risk, If you act quickly enough, I assure you. The confrontation is merely to bait Voltara out; the device will do the rest."

"Finally, we'll enact a false demise for Voltara. Given her notoriety, her 'disappearance' will raise questions. Your job will be to use your security clearance with the hero agency to track any investigation and keep them off the trail."

"Make it look like Voltara has been neutralized so Felicia can live without scrutiny," Josh concluded.

"Are you ready to commit to this, Josh?" AISYS asked, her eyes locking onto his.

"I owe it to her to try after everything that's happened." Josh replied with guilt hardened determination. "We'll start after work, you said my body can now go days without sleep? Now's a great time to put that to the test."
