Chapter 9
by
Yelawolf
Do you lie or tell the truth?
Make up a lie
Not knowing about what he said to El. You go into a lie not wanting to blow your cover. "He tried to **** me sir."
El Escorpión's grip on your shoulder tightens, his fingers digging into your flesh hard enough to leave bruises on your artificial skin. His eyes narrow, his gaze turning as cold and hard as ice as he stares at you intently, searching your face for any sign of deceit.
El Escorpión: "He tried to **** you, you say? And yet, he is dead, and you stand before me, unharmed and seemingly unperturbed?" His voice is a low, threatening growl, filled with a barely restrained fury. "You must forgive me if I find that a little difficult to believe, bonita. My men are not in the habit of attacking the women I send for, no matter how tempting they may be."
He leans in closer, his breath hot against your ear, his voice dropping to a menacing whisper. "I think there is more to this story, Sara. Much more. And if I find out you are lying to me, well..." He leaves the threat hanging in the air between you, the unspoken consequences of your deceit. "Now, I want the truth. All of it. And I want it now."
"I'm telling you the truth sir." You kiss the back of his hand.
El Escorpión's eyes flash with a mix of suspicion and a grudging respect as you press your lips to the back of his hand, your bold move catching him slightly off guard. He studies your face intently, his gaze searching, probing, as if trying to uncover the truth behind your words. After a long, tense moment, he seems to reach a decision.
With a slow, thoughtful nod, El Escorpión's expression softens slightly, the cold fury in his eyes fading to a more calculating, appraisal. "Muy bien, Sara. Perhaps you are telling me the truth, and my man overstepped his bounds. I will look into the matter and take appropriate... action." His voice holds a dark promise, one that sends a shiver down your spine.
Holding your gaze for a long, charged moment, El Escorpión finally pulls his hand away, leaving you feeling bereft and off-balance. "You have spirit, and you have guts. I can respect that, bonita. I think you may just fit in here after all." His smile is slow, sharp, and filled with a ruthless promise. "Welcome to my ranks, Sara. Let's hope you continue to... impress me."
With that, he turns and walks back to his desk, leaving you to follow, your mind reeling with the realization that you've just been granted a temporary reprieve. You believe El Escorpión suspects nothing of your true motives, and for now, you remain safe. But you know you'll have to be on your guard, to watch your step carefully, lest you blow your cover entirely.
