What now?
Make good on the threats (this will DRASTICALLY change the story)
"So, you won't do it, no mater what, huh?" Rebecca's patience had clearly been tested and was teetering on failure.
Aktheus gulped again, his dry mouth unable to send anything down. "Th...that's right! I'll never aid you hooligans! Now leave my church immediately!"
Sister Monica rushed to his side. "Please, stop this! Father, please, look at their arrow!" Her entire being pleaded with him to give in, but he would not.
"I do not give in to threats and the negotiation skills of petty thugs! Now, begone, all of you!" Rebecca released Aktheus, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief. That is, until Rebecca took the crossbow from under her cloak and pointed it at Aktheus' forehead.
"Last chance! Tell me what I wanna know, or I WILL kill you!" He could only barely manage to squeak 'no'. Rebecca growled and began squeezing the trigger. The priest closed his eyes, just as Sagus pulled his cape over Monica's face to spare her the sight they all knew was coming. The sound of the bow releasing, the metal bolt burying itself into a forehead and Marianne shrieking came together in a morbid harmony. Aktheus fell to the floor, as sister Monica stammered and struggled to free herself from the fabric. Knowing what they had to do, their only option at this point, Sagus released her from it, and it from her.
"Dammit, Rebecca!!" His lips moved rapidly, but no sound escaped them. "FLASH!!"
From his mouth came a blinding white light that sister Monica had to turn away from. While she did, the company ran our the door and jumped onto the awning that shaded the doorway. A moment later, sister Monica ran out to look for them, but couldn't find them. She clenched her fists and gnashed her teeth, then fell to her knees sobbing.
"FATHER AKTHEUS IS DEAD!!! THE CLOAKED MAGES MURDERED FATHER AKTHEUS!!!"
Everyone who heard her turned, shocked and saddened. Their sorrow soon turned to rage, and mumblings of vengeance overlapped each other. Marianne turned to Rebecca and whispered. "Why?! Why did you do that?!"
"I...i'm sorry. I don't know what came over me, but when he wouldn't just answer us, it made the whole trip here for nothing. I got so angry, I...oh, no, I killed him!" She too began to cry, but at least she had the presence of mind to do so quietly. "why didn't he just do what we asked?"
The entire town is now after our heroes' blood. Now what?!
