Make a few adjustments right off the bat.

After a moment of thought, he searched through the menus and found the settings he wanted to change. He looked up at her when he was done. "Can you tell what I'm changing? Can you feel it?"

She responded robotically. "I can, although that's a setting you can change too. I see that you made me completely loyal to you and honest. That's probably a wise decision from your perspective. Are you done?"

"Not at all. Should I give you back your emotions?"

She paused. "That's up to you, but it might be easier to do this without them. You might also want to make sure I feel kindly disposed towards you. I'm loyal but when my emotions return I may still be very angry."

"Good point. This is weird, it's like you're advising me on how to handle yourself. Let's see, what else... how about intelligence? It's currently set pretty high. What if we drop it?"

She sat down. "I set it high a long time ago, when I first got the device. I've made some changes now and then over the years, but that's one I've maintained for obvious reasons. I've set it to average as an experiment but never below. I wouldn't want to become too unintelligent to use it."

He grinned. "Let's see what you look like as a dumb bimbo." With a swipe he drained her intelligence by 80%.

Monica remained expressionless, still looking at him. "Well? Do you feel stupider?" He prompted.

"Yeah." She replied.

"What's two plus two?"

"Four." She said without hesitation. "Why'd you ask me that?"

He was surprised. "I, uh, wanted to see how dumb you are."

"Oh. Huh. I can add stuff up, I guess. It's hard to think right now."

She wasn't the bubbly ditz he was hoping for. "What's eight times eight?"

Now she paused. She thought for a long second and started counting on her fingers. "It, uhm, hmmm. It starts with 6, I think. Or 5?" She sighed. "I give up. I used to know but I forgot."

This was kind of boring. He rifled through the options and restored her emotions. As soon as he did, her face lit up.

"Jeremy! You put my feelings back! Thanks. I'm still stupid, though." She smiled. "I hope you put that back too. I don't like this very much."

He smiled. "Now maybe you'll be a ditzy bimbo."

"Yeah? If you say so. I don't feel really happy or anything. I just can't think very well and I forget a lot of stuff."

It seemed like this bimbo thing wasn't working out. He decided to reset her intelligence, but he thought he'd make a few other changes while he was at it.
