Chapter 17 by TheScyle TheScyle

Can he find a way out?

Luck favors the bold

"I prefer girls doing that" John stated, trying to at least go out in style.

"Funny, so do I." The bat replied while already close enough that he could feel the warm breath on his skin. Damn, not even a last funny line was left for him. But wait, maybe that was something good! He may not be dead after all.

"I can get you some!" John blurted out as fast as he could, hoping he might have a chance to safe his sorry ass. "I mean, if you prefer to... drink... girls, then I could lure some here for you. I could help you." It worked. The monster stopped midair, his teeth only inches away from his throat.

"And why would you do that?" It asked. Stupid question, to stay alive of course.

"Because I believe we could work together to achieve great results. I mean, you can't just fly into the big crowds, since you would scare them off. But I could seperate them from the crowd for you, lure them to you." He saw the monsters eyes flicker in greed, yet something else was holding him back. This was to easy for it. It didn't understand the panic John was in. He wanted there to be a catch. So why not give him one. "All I ask is that I get their belongings. The stuff they have on their bodies. And that you either dispose of them or make them forget any of it happened."

The monster flew back a few foot and started laughing a rasping laugh. "I never leave anything behind. I agree. Feed me females. Grown ones. Ripe blood. You may keep the junk they carry."

New skill: Deal with the Devil, lvl 1, 75 mp

Making a deal with the devil makes it possible for you to make binding one-time-deals with monsters as well as other intelligent beings. After both sides agreed on the terms, a simple sign of agreement is enough to make it binding. If a deal is made with Deal with the Devil the side who tries to break it will suffer serious harm.

Note: Monster are 11% more likely to agree to your terms. This value is determined by your Charisma.

Note: You can only have up to (Skill level) deals at the same time (currently 1)

This was perfect. All he had to do is make the deal so the monster wouldn't kill him. Except that he had no way to get that amount of mana. Even as fully recovered as he was right now, he was only at 70. He sighed while almost regretting to put his points into Intellect to raise his mana.

As he ended up with the required amount he stated the deal explicitly:

"Listen, Batmonster... what is your name, by the way?" The monster remained silent. Did it have no name? "Fine, Bat. Just to make it clear, you agree to not put me in any harm, you won't use your poison on me and even keep me safe in case your victims decide to attack me instead. In return I will help you to consume any female we encounter on my way home. I get to keep their belongings. If they survive, you have to make sure they don't remember me. Once we are at my home our ways seperate and you will leave me alone. Do you agree to this terms?" He had put a few extra in there to make sure he would stay safe even after. He quickly activated his new skill.

To his surprise he didn't lose conciousness even though all his mana was spend. He did feel the dizziness coming from it, but he managed to stay awake. There was no other way. If he fell asleep now, the bat would kill him, because he hadn't agreed to it yet. And even if he would have, John's plan required him to stay awake.

"I already agreed to it. Let's go already." The monster said and at the same time on both Johns hand as well as the bats wing a little rune appeared. The Bat did not seem surprised. Did he know what John was doing? Or maybe he just didn't see the rune on himself.

New emergency quest: Collect monster food

Convince any girl you encounter on your way home to get eaten by the bat.

Note: Emergency quests are automatically accepted.

Note: If you do not fulfill this quest, you will die.

Note: Emergency quests will not give you any rewards for completion

John hurried up. As he reached the invisible wall he could walk through it without a problem. The Bat followed him but stayed hidden. He did it very well, no one who looked out of their houses would suspect anything. Even better. John smiled once he knew the bat couldn't see him. They were close enough to his home and at this time, there was no way he would find a lonely lady out in the cold. He wasn't living in the best quarters, so any girl who would be out here at this time would risk being mugged or worse.

So of course they would encounter noone. And the contract would give him safe passage.
