Lucas vs Gary Round 2

After the waste of a day that yesterday was, today has some progress.

"Shadow Ball, Vivian!" I commanded. Vivian fires the Shadow Ball at the wild Nidoran (Male or M). The Nidoran jumped back to dodge the attack, then using the dust cloud the attack cause countered with a Poison Sting. The attack pushed Vivian back and it looks like RNArcues was not on our side today, because the attack poisoned Vivian. Vivian was struggling to stand up straight due to said poison.

'Great. Vivian has been poisoned. We need to finish this battle quickly. Vivian will faint as a result of the poison,' I thought.

"Can you still fight, Viv?" I asked.

"Vee," Vivian said quietly standing up weakly. Nidoran took this opportunity to run away from us, and I couldn't let that happen.

"Vivian, fire a Shadow Ball in front of Nidoran!" I commanded. Vivian did as I asked. The Shadow Ball caused another dust cloud to appear and prevented Nidoran from running any farther. This gave Vivian the time and opportunity to close the distance, "Vivian, use Hyper Voice!"

Before Nidoran knew what was happening, Vivian inhaled and unleashed the Hyper Voice. The impact of the attack sent Nidoran flying backward and stunned it. This was my chance. I pulled out a Pokéball and threw it at Nidoran. On impact, the ball opened and pulled Nidoran inside it.

1...2...3...DING!

"Alright! We just caught a Nidoran (M)," I said running up to the ball. I picked it up and put it away. I turned to Viv and she was struggling to walk to me. I walked to Viv and picked her up, "You were great, Viv. Here eat this Pecha Berry. It will take care of that poison in you." I grabbed a Pecha Berry from my bag and let Viv eat it. She struggled to eat it at first, but after the first bite of the berry, she was regaining her strength, "Feeling better?"

"Vee," Vivian nodding her head.

"Now that we have captured a Nidoran (M), how about we have some lunch?"

"Vee. Vee," Vivian cried out in approval.

-Two Hours Later-

After having lunch with my Pokémon and introducing Nidoran to the rest of my party, we decided to take a little break from training. My team was coming in nicely, but I'm missing a few pieces for my team. As I thought about it, I wondered how Amber was doing. I know she was kicking some ass to those Bug Catchers in the Viridian Forest, but what Pokémon does she have right now? I will have to figure that out when I catch up to her. I figured it was time to head on out. I returned all of my Pokémon except for Vivian.

"Alright, Viv, let's head on out," I said.

"Vee. Vee," Vivian replied.

"Well, well, well. Look at what we have here. A loser and his Pokémon," I heard a familiar voice shout out.

"Last time I checked, I beat you fair and square in our first battle, Gary," I said turning to face Gary.

"For the last fucking time don't call me that. My name is Blue!," Gary shouted.

"What do you want, Gary?" I said not caring about whatever he called himself.

"I wanted to see if you were struggling, but it looks like you got yourself some more Pokémon," he said.

"Looks like I've got more than you do," I replied.

He was getting angry now, "I challenge you to a battle! Right now!" he demanded.

I sighed, "Very well. Why don't you sit this one out, Vivian, and let your fellow Pokémon take care of this one," I said. Vivian nodded and stayed by my leg, "So, how many Pokémon do you have?"

"I have two Pokémon making this battle a 2 vs 2," he said.

"You mean a double battle?" I asked.

"No, a 2 vs 2 battle! We don't do double battles here in Kanto!" he shouted. I sighed thinking it would be simpler to have a double battle, but if Gary wants to be that way so be it, "Let's go, Rookidee!" he shouted as the ball opened and a small blue bird appeared.

"Alright, you're up Sage!" Throwing out Sprigatito.

"Man, you must up loser! Don't you know Sprigatito is weak to Flying-type moves!" he taunted.

"We will see, Gary, but I have a few tricks to take you down," I said with a merk.

"Rookidee, us Peck attack!" he shouted. Rookidee's beak glowed white and charged at Sage.

"Dodge it, Sage, then use U-turn," I commanded. Sage avoided the attack and the moment Rookidee passed her she slammed into his and leaped back into her Pokéball.

"Hey, what gives? Why did your Pokémon go back into its ball?" he shouted.

"The U-turn attack is a move that damages an opponent and then lets the user of the move return to its trainer. Now I can choose your real opponent. Cinder, I choose you!" I explained and called out Cinder from her ball.

"Char, char," she said. Gary didn't like the fact that Cinder was now out.

"Afraid, Gary? You should be. Cinder here has been training just as hard as every one of my other Pokémon," I explained.

"Rookidee, Peak." "Sunny Day!" we both said our commands. While Cinder did get hit by the Peak attack, the Sun is now shining brightly.

"Not again," Gary said.

"Looks like you haven't learned a thing from our last battle. Cinder, fire a Weather Ball at the ground!" I commanded. Thanks to the fight against the Nidoran earlier today, I used the dust cloud as cover.

"Great where is his Pokémon," Gary said to himself. Rookidee needed to fly closer to the ground to see through the dust but at that moment another Weather Ball flew out of the cloud and hit Rookidee. This caused Rookidee to be unable to continue to fight.

"Looks like you're down to your last Pokémon, Gary," I said.

"Rookidee, return. Let's go Squirtle," he said switching out his Pokémon.

"That's enough for now, Cinder. Come on back," I said and Cinder walked beside me, "Let's go, Sage!" Sage came out of her ball ready to fight Squirtle, "Let's not give them a chance to regroup. Use Leafage!" Sage fired off several leaves from her coat and hit Squirtle. The impact pushed Squirtle back but it was still in the fight.

"Squirtle! Squirt!" Squirtle shouted, and I was expecting Gary to use an attack, but no attack came. No order of any kind came from Gary, "Squirtle?" Squirtle turned to face Gary for a command, but Gary did nothing. I was getting a little concerned but I needed to finish this battle and told Sage to use another Leafage. The second Leafage was enough to knock Squirtle out.

"What's your problem, Gary?" I asked as I looked at him all I saw was a look of malcontent. He returned Squirtle to its ball and sent me the prize money. After that, he just left. Not once did he speak out to me. It was honestly unnerving.

"Sprig. Sprig?" Sage asked.

"Sorry you two. It's just that after I beat him, he usually says something to me, but he said nothing to me right now," I knelt in front of them and explained to them.

"Char. Char," Cinder said.

"I don't know. Maybe it's nothing right now, but him doing that has me on edge," I said as I sat down. Sage hopped into my lap and Cinder walked up to me. I instinctively started to scratch their heads, "Anyway, you two did great today."

"Sprig!" "Char!" they said. Before I did anything else, I got a notification on my phone. I checked it and it was a weather alert. It looked like there was a thunderstorm heading our way.

"After all this training and that battle we just had, let's head back to Viridian City for today. I'm exhausted and we all deserve a nap," I said. Sage and Cinder nodded in agreement. So, I returned them to their balls and headed back to the city.

Later that Evening
