Lore Bite: Nevermore

In the annals of the Children of the shadow, etched unto ancient pages, from trees that stood when the earth was still young, is this description, written in a fine and practised hand.

Nevermore.

A falt of man lies in their perception. A Human being could walk every inch of the earth a dozen times and still never see even half of its wonders. But we hunters have always seen beyond the mortal foil, and with the power of our Unholy ancestor, we can not only peak through the fissure into the future but also into the folds of our own minds and memories.

With the first thread comes Foresight, seeing into the bounds of the future, but with its twin, the second thread, our hindsight is unrivalled.

Many a Hunter has utilized and interpreted this unholy sign in multiple ways over the centuries, as a means of meditation and learning, remembrance and memorial, and of course... intelligence and philosophy.

Nevermore allows its user, to literally view their own mind and memory with a critical gaze, retreating into the mind to observe its contents. This Gift has allowed Hunters to perfectly recall every action that they have ever committed to, every word that they have spoken, every piece of knowledge that they have learned.

Of course, this ability has lead to the sharpening of Hunter's minds and bodies, one could retrace a single memory of learning 1000 times in a second, Mastering new abilities with inhuman speed, to know and recall every person that they have met, to retain all the knowledge that they have ever learned.

With this ability, the Descendants have carved their way through thousands of generations of Vampiric clans, outsmarting the invulnerability of the wolves, and the otherworldly intelligence of the Wiccan. It is with this power that the Hunter's remain the Apex predator among even the most dangerous monster.

However, as it is in all things: Every reaction has an equal and opposite reaction... and Nevermore stands as one of the most potentially dangerous threads to overutilize.

By Abusing the power of Hindsight, a Hunter potentially dooms themselves. Nevermore requires enormous amounts of energy and power to use, and it is this crutch that slams like a tidal wave on the mind.

First, the memories once so easily retrieved, become slow and difficult to draw out. After that the memory begins to deteriorate entirely, soon the Hunter will be fatigued beyond comprehension, its volume building and building like a subtle storm until it finally swallows the Hunter whole.

Your eyes will close, and Your mind will retreat into their mind; Nevermore to return.

Among the great halls erected by the Ancient descendants of old, many a Statue, hard and rigid, would have been seen, calcified and petrified in place... with the terrified faces of their fellow loved one's who were fool enough to call on their Hindsight too readily.
