Lois & Blaze read "Tower of Voices" by TheLeherengin, Part 2

The oiled-up demon sighed as Lois Lane played with the small red tits. There were times even a little nipple-play could not overcome a truly daunting assignment.

"Apparently, we've been reading this wrong," Blaze said. "Not only do we need to read 348 chapters and counting, but we should read the forums to fully appreciate the bizarre bullshit that is guiding this story, like a schizophrenic muse."

Lois Lane let her fingers tease the puffy pink nipples.

"Must we?" The reporter asked.

"I don't know. We've reviewed Dustbin Stories and Something They Will All Regret, and didn't particularly care for either. I suppose out of fairness we should get a glimpse into the madness," Blaze said.

In silence, Blaze and Lois delved deep into the forum threads, trying to catch up to where they had come so far in the reading. This was not helped by TheLeherengin's occasional tendency to mislabel links. But at last, they had read up to where the current chapter in their reading had taken them.

"I can, at once, see why Gambio has so much fun with this and why we're having so much non-fun with this," Lois Lane said, after due determination. "If you follow the forum posts, this is basically like somebody writing a fantasy RPG game book a la Lone Wolf or Fighting Fantasy, only all the rules are made up and don't matter, there are no alternate paths, and TheLeherengin is more like a dungeon master than a typical writer. If you just follow the story, it feels like a railroad game with no exit and no point, but if you follow the forum it feels more sandboxy, even though all the other options ultimately don't exist and will never exist. I don't want to say plot and characterization are incidental, but it's closer to a collaborative story in approach."

"Something to keep in mind when Zeebop does his own Fighting Fantasy-esque game, whenever Lois Lane's Night Out is finished, I'm sure," Blaze said drolly. "But now that we're caught up, let's continue the review proper."

"Right. So, continuing on at Penitence/Chapter 35—" Blaze said. "Where Yulia faces a lusty smoke version of herself. Then encounters some nuns."

"Nuns can be sexy," Lois said as she squeezed the demon's breasts, so that the nipples popped out through her oil-slick fingers.

"Not these nuns," Blaze said firmly. "It feels like there's a lot of lore that TheLeherengin has in their head, but isn't always translated into the story in a concise and clear way, which is weird considering how much raw exposition there is. A large part of it seems to be that the folks interested in the forum seem to be generally unwilling or uninterested in sexier possibilities, which kind of matches TheLeherengin's own approach to stories."

Not even gonna hide it... Yulia keeps getting lucky as fuck with her rolls. I don't think she's rolled below a 10 even once so far...

"Do we actually believe TheLeherengin rolls dice?" Lois asked, as her hands slid up over the demon's collarbones, to massage her neck.

"No, absolutely not. Completely untrustworthy," Blaze said. "We'll see if at some point in the forum thread Yulia was supposed to die and they fudge it, but the dice rolls are ultimately an illusion. They don't matter. I can't picture TheLeherengin actually rolling a one and letting the game end."

Lois Lane's hands framed the demon's jaw. Her pale finger massaged the muscles there, let her thumbs run down Blaze's throat as she thought about her reply.

"I know it seems we're being very down on TheLeherengin, but I want to say that this story represents a lot of effort. The prose isn't badly written, even if the format isn't our favorite. Yet the problem is that the story represents a fundamentally different kind of effort than most others on this site. I don't know if any criticism, however well-meant, can overcome the basic difference in format here. The Tower of Voices has a small, dedicated following, and that's good because it is fundamentally inaccessible in a way a lot of the other stories on here are. It's not trying for a wider audience than the forum thread. I'm not even sure TheLeherengin is trying to express any particular idea or tell any particular story, the plot seems to just veer from one room to another, one encounter to another. It's like someone telling you of their play-through of a Fighting Fantasy novel. There's nothing wrong with that, but it makes it kind of hard to critique," the reporter said, and with a sigh let her fingers slid down Blaze's sides. "Spread your legs, would you dear?"

The demon obeyed...and continued reading.

"Yulia and Alide have another little lesbian encounter...none of the forum voices even give short shrift to that, they're focused on the game-aspect," Blaze said as Lois let her fingers rub along the scarlet slit. "There's another angel. Lot of those fuckers in this tower. I'd rather another incubus or succubus or something. Oh look, more exposition."

"No we did not give our anal virginity to The One True God... We gave our normal virginity. It was kind enough to allow us to fuck it, as a divine being, the term god is a matter of mere simplicity, it is beyond such concepts of gender or physical form and for each of us it took a form we would be most willing to indulge with," he explained, "anal or oral acts are not considered to take ones purity anyway, by the One True God which is why when you lose to the high priest, there's any manner of things we can do to you, that will not make you impure for the One True God," he adds with a lustful look at Yulia who is mercifully still too focused on the high priest to notice.

"Is it even a god if it doesn't fuck your ass?" Lois Lane said, with a strained smile. "This is what I mean when I say there's a lot of exposition in the story as it is, but it doesn't really tell you anything you want to know. Anal and oral not counting in the eyes of God is a very Georgia Baptist approach to holiness, but it doesn't exactly build up tension, especially when it segues immediately into a sloppy blow-job of a 10-inch dick. It's like reading a Conan the Cimmerian story: you know Conan isn't going to die in the first ten pages, but you have to at least be interested in seeing how he gets out of this one. I don't think Tower of Voices really builds up the same kind of tension. There's no stakes, because you know Yulia survives, but it's really hard for me to build up any anticipation to see how she overcomes this next obstacle."

"You never know," Blaze said. "Maybe half-way through Yulia dies and goes to hell, or comes back as a zombie. Anything could happen."

"I suppose," Lois said, though there was doubt in her voice. She used her fingers to splay the demon's labia, to reveal the bright pink insides, wet and juicy. Blaze read on a few more chapters.

"Oh look, more tentacles," Blaze said.

"Can't throw stones," Lois replied. She left her middle finger tease the inner folds of the demon's cunt. Not enough to get her off, just enough to tease. "I think part of the weirdness with the forums is that the voices all like Yulia and get sad when she's **** to suck some dude's tallywhacker. That would be sweet, but they also don't exactly seem eager for her to experiment or embrace her sexuality in any positive way. This seems to be the point, since TheLeherengin has added mechanics about psychosexual trauma et al. So it's fucked if you do, fucked if you don't."

"And with that, we're on level 4 of the Tower," Blaze said. "I know there's a shitload of chapters left, but that feels like a good stopping point for this entry. Like, not a lot has happened in an absolute sense, but that was still 20 chapters plus the forum reading. This is a bit of a slog."

"I'm sure TheLeherengin would say the same thing about our story," Lois said. "Different strokes and all that. But I think we have a better understanding of the story now, and we'll pick this up later."
