"Sorry for not updating sooner; my workload has been nuts.”

I rub my eyes and lean back in my chair, feeling the fatigue setting in after long hours of observation and analysis. The dim lighting of my quarters seems to amplify the weariness that has crept into my bones.

"I've been watching them for 13 weeks now. They are absolutely fascinating. Alien in every sense of the word, yet I keep seeing parallels with our own early societies, physical traits, and civilization development.”

"Let me back up a bit since I can't share data yet. Yes, there are intelligent life forms here. Technologically, they’re like we were in the early 21st century. Bipedal, humanoid, similar body structure. But the similarities are only skin-deep. They didn’t evolve from anything like our ancestors.”

"My colleagues think I’m getting too attached, but they haven’t spent as much time with these creatures as I have. The XY-revers are special to me. They deserve my full attention.”

"These creatures (galactic species index: NM.14056 XY-REVERSION system) are sort of like reptiles. What’s really interesting is how they live independently until they hit physical maturity, then they split into two entities. This happens around 23 cycles of their system (about the same as our years). A new consciousness takes over, and the original entity becomes the reproductive organ. I’ve seen it happen up close. It’s wild. Their limbs switch roles: legs become arms and arms become legs. Their internal organs change too, which I’ve scanned during these inversions. Their whole body-plan flips to mirror the new mind. I wish I could see what’s going on in their heads, but without deep brain scans, I have to rely on physical observation through our stealth micro drones.”

"The changes to the brain and head are the craziest part. The old head gets absorbed into the pelvis, and its neurons become part of the sensory and autonomic systems, and the new reproductive organ. The original brain cells merge with the new brain. What used to be reproductive organs turn into a new head and brain. There’s so much more to say, but I’ll save that for a formal analysis. More updates to come."
