Living Room

Chloe observed the big grin on Zack's face as Vicky returned, sitting on the couch next to her and across from Zack in the chair. The two hadn't been overly chatty, but much more so than they had ever been before. Chloe hadn't had a chance to talk to Zack privately but wondered if he'd finally told the blonde how he felt. The thought made her both happy... and a little sad. She looked back to the kitchen. She was thankful Kurt had his back to her and hadn't seen her looking at him... or Brandon. She knew both were bad news, or at least off limits in Brandon's case, but the day's events had her mind in overdrive. Her mind and other things. She bit her lip thinking of how Kurt had just pulled her into his room. She wondered how far it would have gone if she hadn't used Ashley as an excuse to get out of there. She looked at the blonde next to her and realized she kind of understood Vicky's bad boy problems.

She turned to Gavin just in time to see him peak up at her, then look back at his phone. He hadn't said a word to her since he'd caught her on the couch with Kurt. "But why should he be upset with me," she thought, "unless... oh no." She thought back to the lake and how he had been checking her out. "But if he likes me, why doesn't he tell me?" The sight of him head down, nose into his phone answered that question. "What would I do if he did tell me? Do I feel the same? I'd certainly give him a chance," her brain rambled.

"What was that?" Chloe asked, realizing she had been brought back into the conversation.

"Oh I was just telling Vicky about that time, freshman year, when Gavin tripped running down the gym bleachers and fell right into that senior cheerleader, knocking her over and making her spill her bag."

"Oh my gosh, yes he was so embarrassed. But even more so after... what did you say to him?"

"I apologized to her and told her 'I'm so sorry, he does this to meet women.'"

"Oh no!" Vicky covered her mouth, while clearly laughing, looking toward Gavin.

"I think he would have punched you if he hadn't been so completely embarrassed," Chloe added.

"Nah, Gav would never punch me..."

They all turned to Gavin who looked like he was ignoring them. But then he quickly set his phone down and lunged at Zack with fists, laughing as he just stopped short of actually connecting.

"You're still a jerk for that," Gavin tried to sound serious as he laughed. "I'm just glad she was a senior and gone shortly after that, and not someone like Heather, who'd never let me live it down." He looked toward the brunette cheerleading captain in the kitchen.

Chloe was glad to see Gavin in better spirits, but as he sat back down they exchanged another awkward glance.
