List of Ribbons

This is a full list of all the ribbons the various casts provided for the Laura's Heart activity at the bachelorette party.

The HH

Chloe

Wish: That somebody gives every one of you the dumbest, most specific compliment today, and it wrecks you a little, in the good way. Mine was "good job, Chloe." Don't laugh. It worked.
Advice: Leave the light on for each other, even after you don't think you need it anymore. Somebody left mine on for months before I noticed.
Promise: I'll tell my future kindergartners only the fun parts of growing up. I'm keeping every hard part for the people who were actually there.

Claire

Wish: That you ask for what you need, not what you think you're allowed to want. Needs are easier to say yes to. I've tested this.
Advice: Say it in writing if you have to. Just say it.
Promise: I will keep loving you all exactly this quietly, and exactly this much.

Dawn

Wish: That every one of you gets told, out loud, what I got to tell Sumiku: you're not a guest here. You never were.
Advice: Forgive the ones who are trying. It costs you less than you think. It gave me Liesa back.
Promise: I will keep making ordinary things feel like a birthday, for anyone who's forgotten what that's supposed to feel like. Someone did it for me once. I haven't stopped.

Emi

Wish: That we stop counting how much love is left for each of us, like it's a pizza. There's always more. I promise, there's always more. Also pizza.
Advice: You don't have to be the loudest one in the room to matter in it. I spent years believing otherwise. Don't make my mistake.
Promise: I will keep painting the ones we don't talk about enough, so no one gets to be forgotten just because they're quiet, or gone, or both.

Emily

Wish: That someone sees the difference between what I choose and what the transformation makes easy — and trusts me to know it too.
Advice: Ask for permanent before you're sure you deserve it. I waited for proof. The proof was just someone staying.
Promise: I will still be kind on the days no one's checking. That was always the real question, and I already know my own answer now.

Erin

Wish: That we all stop waiting for the ground to disappear. It's held this long. I think it's allowed to just be ground now.
Advice: Say the true thing, not the easy thing — especially to him. He can handle more honesty than any of us give him credit for.
Promise: I will keep being the one who doesn't flinch first. Somebody has to hold still so the rest of you can fall apart safely.

Laura

Wish: That everyone else gets exactly what they're afraid to ask for. (I'm allowed to wish that for other people. I'm working on the other part.)
Advice: Let him choose you again on the bad days, not just the good ones. He will. That's the whole secret, and it isn't even a secret.
Promise: I will let myself hope out loud, even though nothing in me was ever taught that was safe. I'm choosing it anyway. I'd choose it again.

Liesa

Wish: That none of you carry a secret as long as I carried mine. It doesn't get lighter. It just gets heavier to put down.
Advice: Paint the whole self, not just the brave half. I only learned to love mine once I stopped hiding the one who ran.
Promise: Ik beloof — I promise — to say the hard thing the day it happens, not the day I can't hold it in anymore.

Marissa

Wish: That nobody here ever has to perform okay when they're not. I've gotten very good at spotting the difference — let me use it for something besides gossip.
Advice: Count the room, not just the person you love most in it. The quiet ones at the edges need you to notice first.
Promise: I will stop pretending the old habit is a personality. I'm working on it. This is me working on it.

Myra

Wish: That I get to feel just my own feelings for one whole day, not everyone else's too. I love you all. I would also love a Sunday off.
Advice: The thing you're most defensive about is usually the thing you're most right to be proud of. Stop apologizing for it.
Promise: I will keep choosing the people who chose me back, loudly and on purpose, every time — even when the old fear says don't bother.

Norah

Wish: One Tuesday. Nothing burning, nobody dying — just laundry and somebody complaining about the coffee. We've earned a boring day.
Advice: Let someone carry something for you before you're bleeding. I learned this the hard way and would rather you didn't.
Promise: I will keep being the name people put down as their emergency contact. Someone has to be. I've decided it's an honor, not a burden.

Riley

Wish: I wish that, just once, the dessert table would never run out of lemon tart, not even once, not even for a second, for as long as the Hotel stands. This is absolutely not a joke. I am very serious. Don’t judge me.
Advice: Don't hold it too long. I did. You get stuck. Put it down before it decides what kind of person you are.
Promise: I will hold my son every single day like it's still new. For a long time it wasn't a thing I got to do at all.

Sumiku

Wish: I wish for all of my sisters what I was given without asking for it — a place at the fire that does not need to be earned.
Advice: Do not mistake devotion for choice until you have tested it against refusal. I learned the difference too late. Do not.
Promise: I promise to fight for my new sisters with everything I have, the way I wish I’d fought for the ones I left behind. I hope, wherever he is, he knows I made it count for something.

Bunkered Together

(Wet bits hint this was written by Noah) I wish you all the wisdom to know the difference between what is your fault, and what is the fault of fortune...

(For Erin and Laura from Cammy) Sometimes, the so called master needs to be controlled and protected from himself.
