"Right. I know the roads to Vog Boram pretty well. There are two main spots where caravans are usually attacked. I've been hired a couple of times to protect people and that's always where they strike. Good vantage points for archers at one of them and good cover for an ambush at the other. "

Kilsei smiled. "Well, they are who you hire me to beat up if they don't give you what you're looking for."

"Well, if we're unlucky, this will be at least three days to check out both places. You're asking me to risk my life to help you. Twenty gold pieces should do it. Half now, half after the job" Kilsei told her.

"Twenty gold pieces?" Linna shouted. "Are you insane? I'm not some rich merchant, where am I supposed to find that money?"

Kilsei thought for a second. "Did they tell you to hand the package to someone at the church? Maybe Byllenia?"

"They did, actually. How do you know that?" Linna asked.

"Well, we know each other. She usually handles the business side of the church. Let me tell you : if you give her the package, she'll pay you a pittance. But if I'm with you when you give her the package she'll give you a fair amount. That's just how it is."

"Fine, but that doesn't mean I can pay you right now."
