Lilah Morgan shows up

As Lilah Morgan pulled up to the coffee shop, she found herself wishing despite herself that her former partner Lindsay McDonald was there to help her negotiate with the alleged ENF demon that had been reported to be in the coffee shop. Not that she ever liked Lindsay all that much -- especially after he had screwed things up with Darla and Drusilla -- but Wolfram and Hart for some odd sexist reason preferred to have a male employee accompany any female lawyer who dared to deal with an ENF demon. And judging from what she had learned about ENF demons, she could readily understand the reasons for that policy even though she disagreed with it.

Oh, well, I've dealt with worse, Lilah thought, and if I manage to pull this off, it would be a real feather in my cap.

She walked into the coffee shop and immediately began looking around for the ENF demon.

"Hi, pretty lady," said a woman in a corner booth. "What're you looking for?"

Lilah turned in the direction of the young brunette in the corner booth and wondered, could this be the ENF demon? She certainly didn't look very demonic.

"Not very polite to not answer my question, you know," said the woman.

"I'm sorry," said Lilah. "I'm looking for an ENF demon."

"What's an ENF demon?" asked the woman.

"It's a supernatural being with the power to hypnotize people with its voice," said Lilah. "It likes to prey on women and make them strip in public."

"Gee, they have a demon for everything," said the woman. "So what does this ENF demon look like? Like that cop directing traffic on the corner?"

"No, actually --" Lilah paused. "Actually the description I have of it looks much like you."

"You think I'm a demon?" asked the woman.

"Well, aren't you?" asked Lilah.

"Do you think I'd tell you if I were?" asked the woman.

"No," said Lilah. "But that doesn't mean I'm wrong to suspect you."

"Are you naked?" asked the woman.

"What?" asked Lilah.

"Are you naked?" asked the woman.

"Of course not," said Lilah.

"Well, you said it likes to make women strip in public," said the woman. "If you're talking to me and you're not naked, then I must not be the demon you're looking for."

"There's something wrong with that logic," said Lilah. "Either way, I'm with Wolfram and Hart and I'm here to offer -- "

"Wait!" said the woman. "You're with Wolfram and Hart?"

"Why, yes," said Lilah.

"But that's a legal firm," said the woman.

"Yes, it is," said Lilah.

"And here I thought you were a model," said the woman.

"Well, I have had offers in my younger days -- "

"Not recently?"

"No, not recentl --"

"Pity. Because you do have such a pretty figure."

"Why, thank you."

"Show it off much?"

"I beg your pardon?"

"Your figure. Do you show it off much?"

"Not really. Anyway -- "

"Pity."

"What?"

"Not being able to show off your figure."

"Who says I can't show it off?"

"Wolfram and Hart, of course."

"Wolfram and Hart doesn't tell me what to do."

"Yes, they do. They're doing it right now."

Lilah swore. "Oh, yeah. Well, watch this."

She started taking off her suit jacket.

"Does this look like something Wolfram and Hart would approve of?" asked Lilah.

Then she took off her blouse.

"Or this?"

And her skirt.

"Or this?"

And her bra.

"Or this?"

And her pantyhose.

"Or this?"

And her underpants.

"Or this?"

And finally her shoes.

"Or this?"

"Wow!" said the woman. "You sure showed them."

"Of course I did," said Lilah.

"Now take all those clothes away and throw them in the trash," said the woman.

"In the trash?" asked Lilah.

"What was I thinking?" asked the woman. "I meant go across to the apartment building across the street and toss them in the incinerator."

"That sounds better," said Lilah.

"Better do it right away before that ENF demon gets away," said the woman.

"Right," said Lilah as she bent down to pick up her discarded clothes.

The woman in the corner booth watched a naked Lilah walk out the door and smiled. Then she glanced at her watch and started counting the seconds till the time she would hear Lilah scream with embarrassment.

She just loved to make all pretty women she met scream that way but making lawyers do so was especially satisfying.
